2016 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming And Diving Championships
The 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships were contested March 16–19, 2016 at the 35th annual NCAA-sanctioned swim meet to determine the team and individual national champions of Division I women's collegiate swimming and diving in the United States. This year's events were hosted by the Georgia Institute of Technology at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta. Georgia once again returned to the top of the team standings, finishing 19 points (414–395) ahead of Stanford. This was the Lady Bulldogs' seventh team title. Lilly King of Indiana was awarded the 2016 CSCAA (College Swimming Coaches Association of America) Swimmer of the Year. King won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes in record breaking fashion, and was the first woman under 57 seconds in the 100 breast, and the first women to go under the 2:04 barrier in the 200 breaststroke. Texas A&M Aggies refers to the students, graduates, and sports teams of Texas A&M University. The nickname "Aggie" was once common at land-grant or "ag" (agriculture) schools in many states. The teams are also referred to as "A&M" or "Texas Aggies," and the official school colors are maroon and white. The mascot is a rough collie named Reveille. Hali Flickinger (born July 7, 1994) is an American professional swimmer who specializes in freestyle, butterfly, and individual medley events. She represents the Cali Condors of the International Swimming League. Flickinger qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in the 200 meter butterfly and finished seventh in the finals. Mallory Comerford (born September 6, 1997) is an American competitive swimmer specializing in freestyle events. Comerford was the winner of five gold medals at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. She won USA Swimming's Golden Goggle Award for Breakout Performer of the Year for 2017. The following year, Comerford won eight medals in individual and relay events at the 2018 World Swimming Championships. Katarzyna "Kasia" Wasick (born Wilk; 22 March 1992) is a Polish swimmer who specializes in sprint freestyle. Wasick represented Poland at the 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, London, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo as well as other international meets. She is the fastest female swimmer in Poland holding national records in the 50 and 100 freestyle (short course & long course).
