2016 NASCAR Pinty's Series
The 2016 NASCAR Pinty's Series was the tenth season of the NASCAR Pinty's Series. Beginning on May 22 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, the season consisted of twelve races at eleven different venues in Canada. The season ended at Kawartha Speedway on September 18. Scott Steckly was the defending Drivers' Champion. Cayden Lapcevich won the 2016 championship when the Green Flag dropped at the last race, as there were not enough entries for Lapcevich to lose that many points that Andrew Ranger could have taken the championship. Lapcevich won the championship by a 54-point margin over Ranger. The season was the first since naming rights of the series were transferred from Canadian Tire to frozen chicken supplier Pinty's. NASCAR Pinty's Series
The NASCAR Pinty's Series (french: Série NASCAR Pinty's), commonly abbreviated as NPS, is a national NASCAR racing series in Canada, and is a continuation of the old CASCAR Super Series which was founded in 1981. History In September 2006 NASCAR purchased the CASCAR Super Series, the top Canadian stock-car racing series at the time. At the same time, they established a sponsorship agreement with Canadian Tire as the title sponsor. They also signed a television contract with TSN to carry all events with select races being aired live. Three of the series races, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal, had crowds in excess of 50,000 fans. Jean-François Dumoulin
Jean-François Dumoulin (born May 5, 1976) is a Canadian racing driver. He competes in the Tudor United SportsCar Championship for Magnus Racing, as well as the NASCAR Pinty's Series. He is the older brother of Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. Grand-Am career He made his first career start in the series in 2000 with a fifth-place finish in his class. The following year, he earned a class victory at the Circuit Trois-Rivières. He also competed at the KONI Challenge Series and earned a class victory at Watkins Glen International. In 2002, he won the KONI Championship in the ST Class, despite not winning a single event. He won six races in the GSI class the following year and captured the title. Gary Klutt
Gary T. Klutt (born August 14, 1992) is a Canadian professional stock car racing driver and a member of the 2016 NASCAR Next class. He is also the Host of the Gary Klutt Podcast. He currently competes part-time in the NASCAR Pinty's Series, driving the No. 59 Dodge Challenger for Legendary Motorcar Company. Derek Lynch
Derek Lynch (born 16 June 1971) is a Canadian race car driver from Warkworth, Ontario who races in the NASCAR Pinty's Series. Racing career Lynch began competing in the Busch North Series (now NASCAR K&N Pro Series East) in 1995. He raced in 16 of 22 events with a second-place finish at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, pole positions at Holland International Speedway, Thompson Speedway and Beech Ridge, and a second Top 10 finish at Jennerstown Speedway to finish 16th in season points. Louis-Philippe "L. P." Dumoulin (born February 21, 1979) is a Canadian stock car racing driver. He currently races in the NASCAR Pinty's Series, driving the No. 47 Dodge owned by Marc-André Bergeron. Joseph Marc-André Bergeron (born October 13, 1980) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played in 10 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) before spending the later years of his career with the ZSC Lions of the National League (NL). Mario Gosselin (born October 20, 1971) is a Canadian-American professional stock car racing driver, crew chief, and team owner. He owns DGM Racing, a team that competes in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
