2016 Melbourne Football Club Season
The 2016 Melbourne Football Club season was the club's 117th year in the VFL/AFL since it began in 1897. In Paul Roos' final season as senior coach before succession coach, Simon Goodwin took over, the club won ten matches out of twenty-two to finish eleventh on the ladder out of eighteen teams and finished on 97.6 percent. It was the club's best season on the field since the 2011 season in which the club finished with eight wins, thirteen losses and a draw, to finish with a percentage of 85.3. Senior personnel Nathan Jones was retained as captain for the third consecutive season. The leadership group was overhauled where none of the leaders, aside from Jones, were retained in the group from 2015 and the club elected to have no vice-captain. Glen Bartlett
Glen Bartlett (born 6 October 1964) was the chairman of the Melbourne Football Club and a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and East Perth in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Biography Bartlett was used mostly as a key forward at East Perth. He joined West Coast for their inaugural VFL season in 1987 and won their 'Best Clubman' award after playing four games for the year. Despite this he was delisted and returned to East Perth with whom he kicked 69 goals in 1990 to win the Bernie Naylor Medal. He received another chance to play in the VFL when he was recruited by the Brisbane Bears, but Bartlett refused to move from Perth. Daniel Cross (born 30 March 1983) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the and Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). A Charles Sutton Medallist with the Western Bulldogs, he finished his 249-game career with 210 games at the Western Bulldogs and 39 with Melbourne. He has served as the development and rehabilitation coach of the Melbourne Football Club since October 2015. The North East Australian Football League (NEAFL) was an Australian rules football league in New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory and the Northern Territory. Brad Miller (footballer)
Brad Miller (born 6 July 1983) is a former Australian rules football player who last played for the Richmond Football Club. He previously played with the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) until he was delisted at the end of the 2010 season. Early life Brad is the son of Neville Miller, who played 28 games with the South Melbourne Football Club. Brendan McCartney
Brendan McCartney (born 23 October 1960) is the former senior coach of the Western Bulldogs football club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He coached 66 games in 3 seasons before he resigned from the job. He has served as the development and strategy coach of the Melbourne Football Club since 2015. Playing career In his playing days, Brendan McCartney played in the Geelong Football League for the Newtown & Chilwell Football Club. Bernie Vince
Bernard Vince (born 2 October 1985) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club, Adelaide and Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He has since become involved in the football media, working for Triple M and Fox Footy.
