2016 League Of Ireland Cup Final
The 2016 League of Ireland Cup Final was the final match of the 2016 League of Ireland Cup, played between Limerick and defending champions St Patrick's Athletic. The match was played on 17 September 2016 at 5.30 pm. Limerick's route to the final involved them beating fellow First Division side Cobh Ramblers, before beating Premier Division sides Wexford Youths, Galway United and Derry City. St Pat's however were drawn away from home in every round as they knocked out Dundalk, Bray Wanderers and Shamrock Rovers en route to the final. Limerick lead at half time thanks to a terrific Lee Lynch strike but Pats hit back in the second half and equalised through Christy Fagan 20 minutes into the half. The game had a dramatic final 6 minutes as the Saints scored 3 goals through Conan Byrne, Jamie McGrath and Graham Kelly to retain the trophy. Lee Lynch (footballer)
Lee Lynch (born 27 November 1991) is an Irish footballer who plays for NIFL Premiership side Coleraine. Career Early career Lee Lynch began his playing career with former Limerick club Roxboro United, followed by Summerville and finally Regional United where he played until the age of 16. He won two All-Ireland senior soccer titles with Limerick CBS. From there he moved to England to sign for West Bromwich Albion. He played an important role with the youth team there and progressed to play for their reserves where he made 20 appearances. After two years he left in 2010. He then moved to Spain and signed with the Glenn Hoddle Academy playing with Jerez for the 2010-11 season. Seán Hoare (footballer)
Seán Hoare (born 15 March 1994) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a centre back for League of Ireland club Shamrock Rovers Club career St Patrick's Athletic Under 19s Hoare signed with St Patrick's Athletic's Under 19s in the summer of 2012. He signed on to the scholarship scheme between NUI Maynooth and St Patrick's Athletic. Gerard O'Brien (born 2 July 1984) is an Irish former professional footballer who played in the League of Ireland as a defender. He is the current Director of Football of St Patrick's Athletic, who he spent 5 seasons playing with. Conor O'Malley (born 1 August 1994) is a former Irish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career O'Malley began his career with his local club Westport United in their youth team. He played for Mervue United's under 19 side for the 2011–12 season, making 2 appearances for the first team in the League of Ireland First Division. Martin Russell (footballer)
Martin Christopher Russell (born 27 April 1967 in Dublin) is an Irish former professional footballer who played in the English Football League for Birmingham City, Leicester City, Scarborough and Middlesbrough. Billy Dennehy
William Michael Dennehy (born 17 February 1987) is an Irish former footballer and manager of Irish side Kerry FC. He was a left-sided midfielder but also played on the right wing.
