2016 KPMG Women's PGA Championship
The 2016 KPMG Women's PGA Championship was the 62nd Women's PGA Championship, played June 9–12 at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Washington, a suburb east of Seattle. Brooke Henderson, 18, won her first major title with a birdie on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff with top-ranked Lydia Ko. It was the second win in a major by a Canadian and the first in 48 years. Henderson and Ko both had bogey-free final rounds with scores of 65 (−6) and 67 (−4), respectively. Known as the LPGA Championship through 2014, it was the second of five major championships on the LPGA Tour during the 2016 season. Sammamish ( ) is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 67,455 at the 2020 census. LPGA Championship
The Women's PGA Championship (branded as the KPMG Women's PGA Championship for sponsorship reasons) is a women's professional golf tournament. First held in 1955, it is one of five majors on the LPGA Tour. It is not recognized as a major by the Ladies European Tour, which does not recognize any of the three majors played in the United States. Formerly known as the LPGA Championship, the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) announced in 2014 that the PGA of America would become a partner of the event, and that it would be renamed the Women's PGA Championship beginning in 2015—becoming a sister event to the men's PGA Championship (in a similar manner to the U.S. Women's Open being a sister event to the men's U.S. Open). 2010 Champions Tour
The 2010 Champions Tour was the 31st season for the golf tour now known as PGA Tour Champions since it officially began in 1980 as the Senior PGA Tour. The season consisted of 26 official money events with purses totalling $51,475,000, including five majors. Bernhard Langer topped the end-of-season money list for an unprecedented third consecutive year, winning $2,648,939, and also won the most tournaments, five. Fred Couples had a spectacularly successful rookie season. He finished second in the first tournament he entered, followed by wins in his next three events. Senior Major Golf Championships
Men's professional senior golf is for players aged 50 and above. Golf differs from all other sports in having lucrative competitions for this age group. The leading senior tour is the U.S.-based PGA Tour Champions, which was established in 1980 (as the Senior PGA Tour). It has established a roster of five major championships. These events are all played over four rounds, whereas other senior tournaments are generally played over three rounds—only one other current Champions Tour event, the limited-field and season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship, is played over four rounds. Vijay Singh ( hif, विजय सिंह ; born 22 February 1963), nicknamed "The Big Fijian", is a Fijian professional golfer. He has won 34 events on the PGA Tour, including three major championships: one Masters title (2000) and two PGA Championships ( 1998, 2004). He is the first person of South Asian descent to win a major championship. He was elected to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.
