100 Metres
The 100 metres, or 100-meter dash, is a sprint race in track and field competitions. The shortest common outdoor running distance, the dash is one of the most popular and prestigious events in the sport of athletics. It has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 for men and since 1928 for women. The inaugural World Championships were in 1983. The reigning 100 m Olympic or world champion is often named "the fastest man or woman in the world". Fred Kerley and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce are the reigning world champions; Marcell Jacobs and Elaine Thompson-Herah are the men's and women's Olympic champions. Jordan Howe (born 12 October 1995) is a Paralympian Track and field, athlete from Wales competing in category T35 sprinting events. Howe qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics in the 100 m and 200 m sprint. History Howe was born in Cardiff, Wales, in 1995. Howe, who has cerebral palsy, enjoyed sports from a young age, and was a youth swimmer at national level, being a member of the Dragons Disabled Swimming Club, before discovering athletics. T35 (T for ''track'') is a disability sport classification for disability athletics' running competitions. It includes people who have coordination impairments such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. This includes people with cerebral palsy. The classification is used at the Paralympic Games. The corresponding F35 classification (F for ''(in)Field'') includes club and discus throw, shot put, and javelin. Definition This classification is for disability athletics. Ben Rowlings
Ben Rowlings (born 2 May 1996) is a British Paralympic athlete who competes in sprint and middle-distance events in the T34 classification. Personal history Rowlings was born in Shrewsbury, England in 1996. He was delivered with the umbilical chord wrapped around his neck causing oxygen starvation, which resulted in Rowlings developing cerebral palsy. Athletics career Rowlings first became involved in competitive sport as a teenager when he took up swimming. He competed at national level but switched to wheelchair racing at the age of 15 after he went to a British Athletics talent identification day. After gaining his classification in 2011 as a T34 athlete, Rowlings began competing at national meets. By 2013 Rowlings was appearing at senior meets and entered his first IPC Grand Prix. Henry Manni
Henry Manni (born 18 June 1992) is a Finnish athlete and paracanoeist who has competed and medaled in both fields at World Championship level. In Paracanoeing he won a bronze medal in the K-1 200 m TA event at the 2010 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Poznań. Manni later switched to athletics as a wheelchair sprinter in the T34 classification. In 2013 he won a bronze in the World Championships in the 200m event, following this with four golds in the 2014 European Championships and three further World championship medals in 2015. T34 (classification)
T34 is a disability sport classification for disability athletics. The classification is one of eight specifically for athletes with cerebral palsy, and one of four for athletes with cerebral palsy who use a wheelchair. People in this class have hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. This class includes people who have cerebral palsy, or who have had a stroke or traumatic brain injury. Dan Bramall (athlete)
Daniel Bramall (born 29 January 1985) is a British athlete who competes in T33 racing events. In 2015 Bramall finished in silver medal position in the T33 100m sprint event at the IPC World Championships in Doha. Personal history Bramall was born in 1985 and grew up in Minshull Vernon in the north west of England. Bramall has cerebral palsy which affects his lower limbs. Career history Bramall was introduced to athletics and wheelchair racing by a friend and subsequently joined Stockport Harriers and Athletics Club. In 2012 he was classified as a T33 athlete and took part in his first meets that year. Bramall focused primarily on the sprint events and in his first season recorded a best of 23.59 in the T33 100m. The next season Bramall began posting championship times in his three main events. Toby Gold (born 27 September 1994) is an English wheelchair racer. He is classified as a T33 athlete and competes primarily in sprint events, winning the 100m gold in the 2016 European Championships and silver at the 2016 Paralympic Games. Personal history Gold was born in England in 1994. He was educated at Wimbledon College and St Mary's University, Twickenham, both Roman Catholic schools. He studied Sports Science at St Mary's. Athletics career Gold first became involved in athletics after being spotted playing wheelchair basketball in 2011. He was invited to try out at Kingsmeadow Athletics Stadium in Kingston, and subsequently joined the wheelchair training squad.
