2016 IIHF Women's World Championship
The 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship was the 17th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. It was contested in Kamloops, Canada from 28 March to 4 April 2016. Venues included the Sandman Centre, and the McArthur Island Sport and Event Centre. United States defeated Canada in the gold medal game 1–0 in overtime, securing their seventh title. Russia won the bronze medal by defeating Finland in a shootout. David Johnston
David Lloyd Johnston (born June 28, 1941) is a Canadian academic, author, and statesman who served from 2010 to 2017 as Governor General of Canada, the 28th since Canadian Confederation. He is the commissioner of the Leaders' Debates Commission and former Colonel of the Regiment for the Royal Canadian Regiment. Goaltender
In ice hockey, the goaltender (commonly referred to as the goalie) is the player responsible for preventing the hockey puck from entering their team's net, thus preventing the opposing team from scoring. The goaltender mostly plays in or near the area in front of the net called the ''Ice hockey rink#Crease, goal crease'' (often referred to simply as '' the crease''). Rosa Lindstedt (born 24 January 1988) is a Finnish ice hockey player and member of the Finnish national ice hockey team, currently serving as captain of Brynäs IF Dam in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). Jenni Hiirikoski
Jenni Hiirikoski (born 30 March 1987) is a Finnish ice hockey player and captain of Luleå HF/MSSK in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (; SDHL) and the Finnish national team. She is widely considered one of the best active ice hockey defencemen in the world, having won the IIHF Directorate Best Defenceman award seven times during the 2010s.
