2016 Hawke's Bay Cup
The 2016 Hawke's Bay Cup was the 3rd edition of the invitational Hawke's Bay Cup competition. It took place between 2–10 April 2016 in Hastings, New Zealand. A total of eight teams competed for the title. New Zealand won the tournament for the first time after defeating Japan 3–2 in the final. Australia won the third place match by defeating China 3–1. Hastings, New Zealand
Hastings (; mi, Heretaunga) is an inland city of New Zealand and is one of the two major urban areas in Hawke's Bay, on the east coast of the North Island. The population of Hastings (including Flaxmere) is (as of with a further people in Havelock North and in Clive. Hastings is about 18 kilometres inland of the coastal city of Napier. These two neighbouring cities are often called "The Bay Cities" or "The Twin Cities". The city is the administrative centre of the Hastings District. Since the merger of the surrounding and satellite settlements, Hastings has grown to become one of the largest urban areas in Hawke's Bay. Hastings District is a food production region. Amanda Zarine Woodcroft (born 9 October 1993) is an indoor and field hockey player from Canada. Personal life Amanda Woodcroft was born in Kitchener, Ontario, and grew up in the neighbouring city of Waterloo. Woodcroft has a younger sister, Nicole, who also represents Canada in field hockey. Career Indoor hockey In 2010, Woodcroft made her debut for the Canadian indoor team at the Indoor Pan American Cup in Barquisimeto. She represented the team again in 2014 in a number of tournaments. Sophie Cocks (born 25 July 1994) is a New Zealand field hockey player, and a member of the women's national team, the Black Sticks. She competed for New Zealand at the 2014 Women's Hockey World Cup and the women's hockey tournament at the , winning a bronze medal in the latter event. Born in Christchurch, Cocks grew up in Lincoln, a satellite town southwest of the city. She attended St Margaret's College in Christchurch. Gemma McCaw (née Flynn, born 2 May 1990) is a New Zealand field hockey player who has represented her country in three Summer Olympics (2008, 2012, and 2016). Early life Born in Tauranga, Gemma McCaw is the youngest child and only daughter of Rob and Michelle Flynn. Of Māori descent, McCaw affiliates to Te Arawa.
