2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament – Belgrade
The 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade was one of three 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournaments for Men. The tournament was held at the Kombank Arena in Belgrade, Serbia, from 4 to 9 July 2016. The national teams of hosts , , , , the , and were drawn into tournament. The winner qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Teams Venue The Kombank Arena was chosen as the main venue for the tournament. The arena's location is in New Belgrade, but the host city will be designated as "Belgrade", since it is one of the city municipalities of the Serbian capital. The arena hosted the EuroBasket 2005. EuroBasket 2005
The 2005 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2005, was the 34th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe. It also served as Europe qualifier for the 2006 FIBA World Championship, giving a berth to the top six teams in the final standings. It was held in Serbia and Montenegro between 16 September and 25 September 2005. Sixteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The cities of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Podgorica and Vršac hosted the tournament. It was the third time that the championship was hosted by the city of Belgrade (previous times were in 1961 and 1975). Greece won its second FIBA European title by defeating Germany with a 78–62 score in the final. Germany's Dirk Nowitzki was voted the tournament's MVP. Gerson Da Silva Domingos (born 16 April 1996) is an Angolan basketball player who plays for Petro de Luanda of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Standing at , he plays as point guard. Professional career Domingos started playing for the G.D. Interclube in 2017. In 2021, Domingos signed with Petro de Luanda. National team career Domingos played with Angolan under-18 team at the 2014 FIBA Africa Under-18 Championship in Madagascar. Bruno Fernandes (basketball)
Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (; born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for club Manchester United, which he captains, and the Portugal national team. Reginal Dennis Benjamin Moore (March 31, 1981 – June 12, 2023) was an American-born Angolan basketball player. A power forward, he graduated from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2003. He played in Norway, United States Basketball League (USBL; under coach John Starks), Germany, and Portugal. In 2012, Moore was granted Angolan citizenship, thus being eligible to play for the Angolan national squad. He is only the second U.S. citizen in the history of the country's existence to ever be granted Angolan nationality. Moore died in Luanda on June 12, 2023, at the age of 42. Carlos Edilson Alcântara Morais (; born 16 October 1985) is an Angolan basketball player for the Petro de Luanda of the Angolan Basketball League. Carlos Alberto Arroyo Bermúdez (born July 30, 1979) is a Puerto Rican former professional basketball player, and reggaeton singer. José Juan Barea Mora (born June 26, 1984) is a Puerto Rican former professional basketball player and coach. He played college basketball for Northeastern University before joining the Mavericks in 2006 and becoming only the seventh Puerto Rican to play in the NBA. Miloš Teodosić ( sr-cyr, Милош Теодосић, born March 19, 1987) is a Serbian professional basketball player for Virtus Bologna of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) and the EuroLeague.
