The 2016 Carlton Football Club season was the Carlton Football Club's 153rd season of competition, and 120th as a member of the Australian Football League. Under new senior coach Brendon Bolton, the club finished fourteenth out of eighteen teams in the 2016 AFL season with a 7–15 record. Club summary The 2016 AFL season was the 120th season of the VFL/AFL competition since its inception in 1897; and, having competed in every season, it was also the 120th season contested by the Carlton Football Club. The Carlton Football Club, nicknamed the Blues, is a professional Australian rules football club that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's top professional competition. Victorian Football League
The Victorian Football League (VFL) is an Australian rules football league in Australia serving as one of the second-tier regional semi-professional competitions which sit underneath the fully professional Australian Football League (AFL). It includes teams from clubs based in the eastern states of Australia: Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and includes reserves teams for the east coast AFL clubs. The league evolved from the former Victorian Football Association (VFA), and it has been known by its current name since 1996. Shane Watson (footballer)
Shane Watson (born 17 February 1974) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Collingwood Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously served as the forwards coach of the North Melbourne Football Club. Watson came to Collingwood from Montmorency and had an eventful start to his AFL career. He had just turned 18 when he made his league debut against the Brisbane Bears and kicked two goals, in addition to four behinds. Two weeks later, he kicked five goals in a win over Essendon at Waverley. He had a good season as a half back flanker in 1993, finishing second in Collingwood's "Best and Fairest" voting after averaging 16 disposals for the year. Tim Clarke (born 2 April 1982) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He currently works as a coach for Carlton Football Club. Playing career Hawthorn Football Club He was educated at The Geelong College. Mathew Capuano (born 2 September 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer who spent his AFL career with the North Melbourne Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club. Post playing career Capuano was a development coach at the Carlton Football Club. He was famously sacked by St. Kilda during the 2003 season. John Barker (Australian Footballer)
John Barker (born 19 February 1975) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Fitzroy Football Club, Brisbane Lions and Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life John Barker was born on 19 February 1975. Barker played junior football for Pascoe Vale in the Essendon District Football League. Michael Raymond Malthouse (born 17 August 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer, who played for the St Kilda Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Bryce Gibbs (born 15 March 1989) is a retired professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club and the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Pre-AFL Gibbs was an exceptional youth talent, which led to much speculation about his ultimate AFL drafting. In 2004 he won Glenelg's Under 17s best and fairest award, despite spending part of the season playing SANFL reserve grade. Patrick Cripps (born 18 March 1995) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).
