2016 America East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2016 America East men's basketball tournament took place on March 2, 7, and 12, 2016. The entire tournament took place on campus sites with the higher-seeded school hosting each game throughout the championship. The winner of the championship game earned an automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA tournament. Seeds Teams were seeded by conference record, with ties broken by record between the tied teams followed by record against the regular-season champion, if necessary. 2015–16 Stony Brook Seawolves Men's Basketball Team
The 2015–16 Stony Brook Seawolves men's basketball team represented Stony Brook University in the 2015–16 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Steve Pikiell
Stephen Christopher Pikiell ( ; born November 21, 1967) is an American college basketball coach and since March 16th, 2016, the head men's basketball coach at Rutgers. Prior to Rutgers, Pikiell was the head coach at Stony Brook for over a decade, leading the Seawolves to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016. In 2021, Pikiell led Rutgers to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 30 years. Early years and playing career Pikiell was born and raised in Bristol, Connecticut, and was one of nine children and graduated from St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol in 1986. At the University of Connecticut, Pikiell worked as a point guard, two-year captain and four-year letterwinner for the Huskies from 1987 to 1991. He played in 106 career games and averaged 8.2 points a game as a freshman. Jameel Warney
Jameel Marcus Warney (born January 31, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the Seoul SK Knights of the Korean Basketball League. He played college basketball for the Stony Brook Seawolves, leading the team to its first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament and graduating as the school's all-time leader in several career categories. After going undrafted, Warney became the first Stony Brook player to reach the NBA when he made his debut with the Dallas Mavericks on March 11, 2018. Warney continued to play in the G League and was traded to the Westchester Knicks in 2019 before moving his career overseas and signing with the Seoul SK Knights of the Korean Basketball League later that year.
