2016 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship
The 2016 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship was the 53rd staging of the All-Ireland inter-county championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. The championship began on 25 May 2016 and ended on 10 September 2016. Limerick entered the championship as the defending champions. They were beaten by Tipperary in the Munster semi-final. On 10 September 2016 Waterford won the championship following a 5-15 to 0-14 defeat of Galway in the All-Ireland final. This was their second All-Ireland title and their first in 24 championship seasons. Format Leinster, Munster and Ulster each organise a provincial under-21 championship. Connacht do not organise a provincial championship and are represented by Galway. The three provincial champions and Galway enter the All-Ireland semi-finals. Patrick Curran (hurler)
Patrick Curran (born 2 March 1996) is an Irish hurler who plays for Waterford Championship club Dungarvan and at inter-county level with the Waterford senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a full-forward. Playing career Dungarvan Colleges During his secondary schooling at Dungarvan CBS, Curran was added to the amalgamated Colaiste na nDéise team. On 25 February 2012, he was just 15-years-old when he was selected at left corner-forward for the Harty Cup final against Nenagh CBS. Curran scored 1-02 from play and claimed a winners' medal after the 2–14 to 1–10 victory. On 24 February 2013, Curran was selected at centre-forward when the renamed Dungarvan Colleges faced Our Lady's Secondary School in the Harty Cup final. Newbridge, County Kildare
Newbridge, officially known by its Irish name Droichead Nua (), is a town in County Kildare, Ireland. While the nearby Great Connell Priory was founded in the 13th century, the town itself formed from the 18th century onwards, and grew rapidly alongside a military barracks which opened in the early 19th century. Taking on the name Newbridge (''An Droichead Nua'') in the 20th century, the town expanded to support the local catchment, and also as a commuter town for Dublin. Carlow
Carlow ( ; ) is the county town of County Carlow, in the south-east of Ireland, from Dublin. At the 2016 census, it had a combined urban and rural population of 24,272. The River Barrow flows through the town and forms the historic boundary between counties Laois and Carlow.
