Hofstra Pride Women's Basketball
The Hofstra Pride women's basketball team is the basketball team that represents Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Colonial Athletic Association. History The Pride has made eight appearances in postseason play, two being in the AIAW Division II National Tournament (1980, 1982) and four being in the WNIT (2006, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016). Northeast Conference Women's Basketball Coach Of The Year
The Northeast Conference Women's Basketball Coach of the Year is a basketball award given to head coaches in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The award is granted to the head coach voted to be the most successful that season by the league's coaches. The award is named in honor of Brenda Reilly, a teacher, sports administrator and three-sport coach in a career of almost three decades at Central Connecticut State University. The award was first given following the 1986–87 season, the first in which the NEC sponsored women's basketball. Kevin Jones of St. Francis Brooklyn was the inaugural recipient. The program with the most awards is Robert Morris, whose father-son duo of Sal and Charlie Buscaglia have garnered all of the Colonials' seven awards, but Robert Morris left the NEC for the Horizon League after the 2019–20 season. The 2015–16 Drake Bulldogs women's basketball team represented Drake University during the 2015–16 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Bulldogs were led by fourth year head coach Jennie Baranczyk, and Jacqui Kalin served as an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. They played their home games at Knapp Center and were members of the Missouri Valley Conference. They finished the season 24–10, 14–4 in MVC play to finish in a tie for second place. The Fordham Rams women's basketball team represents Fordham University, located in the Bronx, New York, in NCAA Division I basketball competition. John Thurston (basketball)
John Thurston (born April 17, 1948) is an American college basketball coach. He was the head coach of the St. Francis College women's basketball team from 2012 to 2018. Thurston was born in the Bronx, New York (state), New York and is an alumnus of Archbishop Molloy High School and Seton Hall University. Through both high school and college, Thurston was a two sport player playing baseball and basketball. After graduating high school in 1966, Thurston was drafted by Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1966 Major League Baseball draft, 1966 MLB Amateur Draft. Coaching career Thurston is one of only a few coaches who has been a head coach at the NCAA DI, DII, DIII and NAIA levels in 26 years of coaching men's college basketball from 1971 to 1997.
