The 2015–16 NBA season, 2015–16 New Orleans Pelicans season was the 14th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team failed to post a second consecutive winning season and missed the playoffs. Following the season, tragedy struck as Bryce Dejean-Jones was shot dead while shouting for his girlfriend for his daughter's first birthday at the Dallas apartment. Dejean-Jones death was the first for an active NBA player since Eddie Griffin (basketball), Eddie Griffin, who died in a car accident in 2007. Alvin Gentry
Alvin Harris Gentry (born November 5, 1954) is an American professional basketball coach. A former college basketball player, Gentry has led six different NBA teams. He served as an interim head coach for the Miami Heat at the end of the 1994–95 season, and later coached the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans and Sacramento Kings. He currently serves as the vice president of basketball engagement for the Sacramento Kings. Darren Erman is an American basketball coach who serves as assistant coach for the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Early career Erman grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Emory University where he served as student coach, graduating in 1997. After attending law school, he served as a corporate lawyer for Latham & Watkins while maintaining connections to basketball. Kendrick Le'Dale "Perk" Perkins (born November 10, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player who is a sports analyst for ESPN. Luke Robert Babbitt (born June 20, 1989) is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Nevada Wolf Pack before declaring for the 2010 NBA draft following his sophomore year. Ryan James Anderson (born May 6, 1988) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Houston Rockets. He played college basketball for the California Golden Bears.
