2015–16 Greenock Morton F.C. Season
Season 2015–16 saw Greenock Morton compete in the Scottish Championship the second tier of Scottish football, having finished top of the Scottish League One in 2014-15. Morton also competed in the Challenge Cup, Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup. Story of the season May After the conclusion to the 2014-15 season, manager Jim Duffy dedicated the title triumph to Greenock broadcaster Arthur Montford. The first pre-season game of the season was announced as being an away fixture against BSC Glasgow, with Rotherham United visiting Cappielow for the third year in a row. Jamie McCluskey was released, while Lee Kilday and Ricki Lamie were offered one-year contract extensions. Sean Crighton was also released along with Stefan Milojević, Aidan Ferris, Nicolas Caraux and Ross Caldwell. Jon Scullion also agreed a new contract with the club. Greenock (; sco, Greenock; gd, Grianaig, ) is a town and administrative centre in the Inverclyde council area in Scotland, United Kingdom and a former burgh within the historic county of Renfrewshire, located in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. It forms part of a contiguous urban area with Gourock to the west and Port Glasgow to the east. The 2011 UK Census showed that Greenock had a population of 44,248, a decrease from the 46,861 recorded in the 2001 UK Census. Nicolas Caraux
Nicolas Caraux (born 4 March 1991) is a French professional football goalkeeper who currently plays for FC Versailles 78. Career Caraux came through the youth academy at RC Lens, before joining the Edusport Academy in Motherwell in 2012. Nicolas signed with Scottish Championship side Greenock Morton in July 2013. He made his first competitive debut in a 1–0 defeat in the Scottish Challenge Cup to Annan Athletic. In September 2013, he signed a contract extension until summer 2015. Aidan Ferris (born 7 July 1996) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a striker for Benburb. He previously played for Greenock Morton and St Mirren in the Scottish Professional Football League, and lower league clubs BSC Glasgow, East Kilbride, Stirling University and Muirkirk. Career Born in Paisley, Ferris started his career at St Mirren before moving to local rivals Greenock Morton in the summer of 2013 to join their new full-time development squad. Sean Crighton (born 26 March 1990) is a former Scottish footballer and coach who is currently B team manager at Queen's Park. Crighton began his career with St Mirren, and has also played for Montrose, Elgin City, Greenock Morton, Airdrieonians, Livingston, Brechin City,Stenhousemuir and Dumbarton. Ricki Lamie (born 20 June 1993) is a Scottish professional footballer, who plays as a defender for club Ross County. He has previously played for Airdrieonians, Queen's Park, Greenock Morton, East Stirlingshire, Bathgate Thistle, Clyde, Livingston, Motherwell and Dundee. James McCluskey (born 6 November 1987) is a Scottish former footballer. McCluskey, who started his career with Hibernian, set a record for the youngest player to play in the Scottish Premier League when he made his senior debut. He has also played for St Johnstone, Wrexham, St Mirren, Clyde, Dundee, Forfar Athletic, Greenock Morton and Stranraer. Arthur Montford
Arthur Montford (25 May 1929 – 26 November 2014) was a Scottish Television sports journalist, best known for his 32-year tenure as the presenter of Scottish Television's ''Scotsport''. Although he was most associated with football, he covered a number of other sports for ITV, notably golf. Early life Montford was raised in Greenock and was a lifelong supporter of local football club Greenock Morton. Journalism Montford worked as both a print journalist and radio broadcaster before joining Scottish Television in August 1957 as a continuity announcer.
