2015 Women's World Open Squash Championship
The 2015 Women's World Open Squash Championship is the women's edition of the 2015 World Championships, which serves as the individual world championship for squash players. It was originally scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from December 11 to 18, 2015; with less than two weeks' notice, the event was deemed to have been cancelled after the event promoters allegedly cited "security fears" as justification for doing so. In response, Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin claimed the event's cancellation was down to the promoters' failure to attract sponsorship and accused them of attempting to blackmail the Malaysian government with a demand for event funding (including RM3.5 million ($850,000) for private security arrangements) as a result. Samantha Terán Quintanilla (born May 6, 1981, in Mexico City) is a professional female squash player who represents Mexico. Teran first joined the WISPA Tour in 2000, and she entered the world top twenty for the first time in 2008 as she won the eighth and ninth Tour titles of her career. These followed two in 2007, the Gannon Open and Toronto Open, in both events beating American Latasha Khan in the final. In early 2008 it was Khan who was despatched in the finals of the Liberty Bell and Windy City Opens in the United States. The Mexican did it again in May to win the Subway Goshen Open, but this time Khan was beaten in the semis. Jennifer Duncalf (born 10 November 1982) is a former professional squash player from England. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 2 in December 2009. Career Duncalf was born in Haarlem, Netherlands but was a pupil at Harrogate Grammar School where she attended from 1994-2001. As a junior player, she won the European Junior Championship title. Duncalf won the European Individual Championship title in 2006 and 2007, and the British National Championship title in 2007 and 2009. Joshna Chinappa (born 15 September 1986) is an Indian professional squash player. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 10 in July 2016. She was the first Indian to win the British Junior Squash Championship title in 2005 in the under-19 category and was also the youngest Indian women's national champion. She is the current record-holder of most national championship wins, with 18 titles.
