2015 UEC European Track Championships (under-23
The 2015 UEC European Track Championships was the sixth edition of the elite UEC European Track Championships in track cycling and took place at the Velodrome Suisse in Grenchen, Switzerland, between 14 and 18 October. The Event was organised by the European Cycling Union. All European champions are awarded the UEC European Champion jersey which may be worn by the champion throughout the year when competing in the same event at other competitions. The 10 Olympic events (sprint, team sprint, team pursuit, keirin and omnium for men and women), as well as 11 other events are on the program for these European Championships. For the first time, the elimination races, known within track cycling as Devils (from the saying ''Devil take the hindmost'') were contested in their own right. Grenchen
Grenchen (french: Granges) is a municipality in the district of Lebern in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland. It is located at the foot of the Jura mountains between Solothurn and Biel/Bienne, approximately north of Bern. With over 16,000 inhabitants, it is one of the larger towns of the canton of Solothurn. UEC European Track Championships – Men's Team Sprint
The Men's team sprint at the European Track Championships was first competed in 2010 in Poland. The Team sprint consists of a qualifying, followed by a final and the race for the bronze medal. Germany have been the most successful nation in the event at this level, winning the first five events, before their run was ended by Netherlands in 2015. Robert Förstemann is the most successful individual medalist in the discipline, with four golds and two bronze medals in seven years; his single absence when he did not feature in the winning German team of the post-Olympic 2012 event. Bradley Wiggins
Sir Bradley Marc Wiggins, CBE (born 28 April 1980) is a British former professional road and track racing cyclist, who competed professionally between 2001 and 2016. He began his cycling career on the track, but later made the transition to road cycling. He won world titles in four disciplines (Madison, individual pursuit, team pursuit and road time trial), and Olympic gold in three (individual pursuit, team pursuit and road time trial). He is the only rider to have won both World and Olympic championships on both the track and the road as well as winning the Tour de France. Andy Tennant (cyclist)
Andrew David Tennant (born 9 March 1987) is an English former professional track and road racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2009 and 2021 for six different teams. During his career, Tennant won seven medals at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, six gold medals at the UEC European Track Championships and a silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Biography Born in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, UK, Tennant began to make his mark on the cycling world as a junior rider. In 2005 he was selected for British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme and lived in Tuscany, Italy with the GB squad in 2006. Tennant represented England in the points race at the 2006 Commonwealth Games and represented Great Britain in the Under-23 road race at the 2006 UCI Road World Championships in Salzburg, Austria. Owain Doull
Owain Daniel Doull (born 2 May 1993) is a Welsh road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Doull specialises in the team pursuit on the track, and won a gold medal in the discipline at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro; as a result, he became the first Welsh-speaking athlete to win Olympic gold. Career history Doull was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales where he was educated at Ysgol y Wern and Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf. Jonathan Mark Dibben (born 12 February 1994) is a British former racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2015 and 2020, for the , , and teams. His older brother Peter Dibben is a British cycling champion on the track. He rode at the 2015 UCI Track Cycling World Championships. At the 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Championships he won a gold medal in the points race and a silver medal in the team pursuit event. UEC European Track Championships – Men's Team Pursuit
The Men's team pursuit at the European Track Championships was first competed in 2010 in Poland. It has formed a part of each championship since. Great Britain, the double Olympic champions, dominated the event in its early years, winning all of the first five occasions the entered. Thereafter, as other nations caught up, Russia (2), Denmark (3), France (3) and latterly Italy shared the other titles. Maximilian Levy
Maximilian Levy (born 26 June 1987) is a German former track cyclist. Levy won a bronze medal in the men's team sprint representing Germany at the 2008 Olympic Games held in Beijing, China. At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he won another bronze in the men's team sprint, and a silver in the men's keirin. He was the world champion in keirin 2009 and in the team sprint 2010, 2011, and 2013. Levy retired from competition after the conclusion of the 2021 UCI Track Champions League in December of that year.
