2015 TCR International Series Singapore Round
The 2015 TCR International Series Singapore round was the ninth round of the 2015 TCR International Series season as well as the second round of the 2015 TCR Asia Series season. It took place on 19–20 September at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Kevin Gleason won the first race, starting from third position, driving a Honda Civic Type R TCR (FK2), and Jordi Gené gained the second one, driving a SEAT León Cup Racer. Success Ballast Due to the results obtained in the previous round and in the Sepang round of the TCR Asia Series, Pepe Oriola and Philippe Descombes received +30 kg, Stefano Comini and Eric Kwong +20 kg and Jordi Gené and Michael Choi +10 kg. Nevertheless, Descombes and Kwong didn't take part at this event, so they will take the ballast at the first round they will participate. Marina Bay Street Circuit
The Marina Bay Street Circuit (otherwise known as the Singapore Street Circuit) is a street circuit around Marina Bay, Singapore, encompassing the planning areas of Downtown Core (Turns 4 to 23) and Kallang (Turns 1 to 3). It is the venue for the Singapore Grand Prix. The track is long in a harbourside location similar in style to the Circuit de Monaco and the Valencia Street Circuit. The circuit was designed by KBR, and is a modification of the original one first proposed by Hermann Tilke. The circuit has a FIA Grade 1 license. The circuit holds a unique record of having at least one safety car appearance in every race to date. There has been a total of 23 safety car deployments in thirteen races. Philippe Descombes is a French racing driver currently competing in the TCR Asia Series. Having previously competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, Formula 3 Asia and Formula 2000 Asia amongst others. Racing career Descombes began his career in 1996 in the Championnat de France Formule Renault, he finished 13th in the standings in 1997. In 1999 he switched to the Formula 2000 Asia series. He switched to the Ericsson Formula Challenge in 2000, winning the title that year. In 2001 he raced in the Macau Asian Formula 2000 Challenge also winning the title the same year. Campos Racing is a Spanish motor racing team, founded by former Formula One driver Adrián Campos. The team has been successful in Formula Three and the GP2 Series. History After retiring from racing, Campos formed his own team at the end of 1997, under the name Campos Motorsport. Fernando Monje Vicario (born 7 March 1993) is a former Spanish racing driver who competed in the World Touring Car Championship. Career Early career Monje was born in Barcelona. Tomas Engström (born 18 January 1964) is a Swedish auto racing driver. He is married with four children. In the 1990s he dominated the Swedish Camaro Cup, winning five back-to-back titles between 1994 and 1998.
