Mike Davis (basketball Coach)
Michael Davis (born September 15, 1960) is an American basketball coach. He is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Detroit Mercy, a position he has held since 2018. Davis served as the head men's basketball coach at Indiana University Bloomington from 2000 to 2006, the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from 2006 to 2012, and Texas Southern University from 2012 to 2018. Playing career Davis, an Alabama native, spent his collegiate playing career with the University of Alabama Crimson Tide after earning the state's Mr. Basketball honor in 1979. In his first season, he played for the legendary C. M. Newton and then spent his final three years playing under another coaching legend, Wimp Sanderson. Madarious Jaquil Gibbs (born May 7, 1993) is an American basketball player. He completed his college career at Texas Southern University (TSU). Gibbs, a point guard from Newnan, Georgia, played four seasons for TSU, leading the team to back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) titles in 2014 and 2015. As a senior in the 2014–15 season, Gibbs was named SWAC Player of the Year and an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press. The 2014–15 Alabama State Hornets basketball team represented Alabama State University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Hornets, led by tenth year head coach Lewis Jackson, played their home games at the Dunn–Oliver Acadome as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
