2015 Queensland Firebirds Season
The 2015 Queensland Firebirds season saw the Queensland Firebirds netball team compete in the 2015 ANZ Championship. With a team coached by Roselee Jencke, captained by Laura Geitz and featuring Romelda Aiken, Clare McMeniman and Kim Ravaillion, Firebirds won the Australian Conference, the Challenge Trophy, the minor premiership and the overall championship. Firebirds narrowly defeated New South Wales Swifts in both the Australian Conference final and the Grand Final on their way to effectively winning four titles. Clare McMeniman
Clare McMeniman (born 11 July 1985), also known as Clare Ferguson, is a former Australia national netball team, Australia netball international. She List of Australia national netball team captains, captained Australia when they won the 2016 Netball Quad Series and the 2016 Constellation Cup. McMeniman was also a member of the Queensland Firebirds teams that won the 2011 ANZ Championship season, 2011, 2015 ANZ Championship season, 2015 and 2016 ANZ Championship season, 2016 ANZ Championships. Demelza Fellowes
Demelza McCloud ( née Fellowes; born 5 August 1980) is an Australian netball player. She was an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship holder. McCloud was selected in the Australian national team in 2004 and 2005. Domestically, she has played for the Adelaide Thunderbirds and Melbourne Kestrels in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy, and also played in New Zealand for the Otago Rebels in the 2007 National Bank Cup. With the advent of the trans-Tasman ANZ Championship, McCloud was rostered with the Canterbury Tactix in New Zealand for the inaugural season in 2008. For the 2009 season, she signed with the Queensland Firebirds. In 2009, McCloud was selected as part of the World 7 team where players from England, Jamaica, Samoa and Australia (not part of the Diamonds squad) formed a team to play against the Silver Ferns. 2015 Netball World Cup
The Netball World Cup Sydney 2015 (NWC2015) was the 14th edition of the INF Netball World Cup, the premier competition in international netball. It was held from 7–16 August, in Sydney, Australia, which secured hosting rights after defeating a rival bid from Manchester, England. Matches were played at Allphones Arena and Netball Central. Sixteen nations competed at the championships, including the top six teams from the 2011 World Netball Championships in Singapore. After two rounds in which teams competed in pools of four, Australia, New Zealand, England and Jamaica contested the semi-finals. Australia defended its 2011 title against New Zealand by a narrow 58–55 victory. The final at Allphones Arena was attended by 16,752 people, a world record for any netball game. Australia National Netball Team
The Australia national netball team, also known as the Australian Diamonds, represent Netball Australia in international netball tournaments such as the INF Netball World Cup, the Commonwealth Games, the Constellation Cup, the Netball Quad Series and the Fast5 Netball World Series. They have also represented Australia at the World Games. Australia made their Test debut in 1938. West Coast Fever
West Coast Fever is an Australian netball team based in Perth, Western Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they competed in the ANZ Championship. Between 1997 and 2007, as Perth Orioles, they competed in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. During the ANZ Championship era, Fever were the only Australian team not to win a title, play in a grand final or feature in a finals series. However, during the Suncorp Super Netball era they emerged as challengers. They were grand finalists in both 2018 and 2020, and eventually claimed their first premiership in 2022. Waikato Bay Of Plenty Magic
Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are a New Zealand netball team based in Hamilton. Between 1999 and 2007, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017, Magic have represented Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty in the ANZ Premiership. Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty is the governing body that represents the North Island regions of Waikato and Bay of Plenty. During the National Bank Cup era, Magic were premiers in 2005 and 2006. ANZ Championship
The ANZ Championship, also known as the Trans-Tasman Netball League, is a former netball league featuring teams from both Australia and New Zealand. Between 2008 and 2016, it was the top-level league in both countries. The competition was owned and administered by Trans-Tasman Netball League Ltd (TTNL), a joint venture between Netball Australia and Netball New Zealand. It was effectively a merger of Australia's Commonwealth Bank Trophy and New Zealand's National Bank Cup. Its main sponsor was the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group. In 2008, New South Wales Swifts were the inaugural ANZ Championship winners. Amorette Wild
Amorette Wild (born 10 August 1989), also known as Amy Wild, is a former Australian netball player. Wild played for both New South Wales Swifts and Queensland Firebirds during the ANZ Championship era. She was a member of the Firebirds team that won the 2015 ANZ Championship. She also represented Australia at under-19, under-21 and Fast5 levels. Early life and education Wild attended Westfields Sports High School. Between 2004 and 2006 she attended Western Sydney Academy of Sport. Playing career New South Wales Wild played for teams representing Eastwood/Ryde, Fairfield and Sutherland Shire. Between 2006 and 2010, Wild represented New South Wales in the Australian National Netball Championships at under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels. Gabi Simpson
Gabrielle Simpson (born 17 October 1992), also known as Gabi Simpson, is an Australia netball international. Simpson was vice-captain of the Australia team that won the silver medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Simpson was also a member of the Queensland Firebirds teams that won the 2015 and 2016 ANZ Championships. Since 2017, Simpson has captained Firebirds in Suncorp Super Netball. In 2017 she received the Liz Ellis Diamond award. Verity Simmons
Verity Anne Simmons; born 19 May 1991 in Grafton, New South Wales) is an Australian netball player. In 2012, Charles played her first season in the ANZ Championship with West Coast Fever. In 2014, she transferred to the Queensland Firebirds, and was part of a team that made the ANZ Championship Grand Finals in 2014. And in winning the premiership in 2015. Ameliaranne Wells
Ameliaranne Ekenasio (née Wells; born 11 January 1991) is an Australian-born, New Zealand netball player. She currently plays for Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in the ANZ Premiership. Ekenasio is known for her high work rate and smooth long-range shooting. Ekenasio made her New Zealand debut in the 2014 Constellation Cup against Australia. She missed the 2017 season due to the birth of her son Ocean, but returned to take a full part in 2018. In a remarkable comeback, she was selected for the New Zealand netball team to compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, however the Silver Ferns team failed to medal.
