2015 Oyo State Gubernatorial Election
The 2015 Oyo State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on April 11, 2015. APC candidate Abiola Ajimobi won the re-election after defeating Rasheed Ladoja of Accord. Abiola Ajimobi emerged APC gubernatorial candidate after scoring 4,662 votes and defeating 3 other candidates: Ayobami Adesina, son of former governor of the state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, Adebayo Shittu who is a former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in the state. Abiola Ajimobi
Senator Isiaka Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi (16 December 1949 – 25 June 2020) was a Nigerian politician from Oyo State, south-western Nigeria. He was formerly the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum, Nigeria. He left the oil sector in 2002 after 26 years of meritorious service and was elected in 2003 as a Senator of the Republic of Nigeria representing Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD). After one term in the senate, he contested in 2007 for the governorship seat of Oyo state under the banner of the All Nigeria People's Party, a bid which he lost. Rasheed Ladoja
Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja (born 25 September 1944) is a Nigerian businessman who became governor of Oyo State in Nigeria on 29 May 2003 as a member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He was impeached in January 2006, but reinstated in December 2006. His term ended in 2007. Ladoja became a member of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in December 2018. Early life Ladoja was born on 25 September 1944 in Gambari village near Ibadan. He attended Ibadan Boys High School (1958–1963) and Olivet Baptist High School (1964–1965). The All Progressives Congress (APC) is one of the two major contemporary political parties in Nigeria, along with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Adebayo Alao-Akala
Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala (3 June 1950 – 12 January 2022) was a Nigerian politician and police officer. He served as governor of Oyo State in 2006, and again from 2007 to 2011. He was the candidate of the ADP in the 2019 Governorship election in Oyo State. He served as deputy governor of Oyo State from May 2003 to January 2006 succeeding Rashidi Ladoja when he was impeached, but later reverting to the office when Ladoja was reinstated in December 2006. He was elected governor in 2007, and lost reelection in 2011 to Abiola Ajimobi of the Action Congress of Nigeria. He died on the 12th of January, 2022.
