2015 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Season
The 2015 Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer season was the 25th season of men's varsity soccer in the conference. The defending regular season champion was Missouri State, and the defending postseason champion was Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). The Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer tournament was hosted by SIUE on Bob Guelker Field at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Illinois on November 11, 13, and 15. The Drake Bulldogs defeated the host team in the final 1–0 and advanced to the NCAA tournament. They then upset 17th ranked Kentucky before falling in the second round to 9th ranked and 12th seeded Creighton. The Missouri Valley Conference (also called MVC or simply "The Valley") is the third-oldest collegiate athletic conference in the United States. Austin Ledbetter (born July 15, 1995) is an American retired Association football, soccer player who last played for Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship. Career Early career A resident of St. Charles, Missouri, Ledbetter attended Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, where he was a second team All-State selection as well as a first team All-Metro and All-Conference pick his junior season. Alec Bartlett (born April 27, 1993) is an American soccer player. Career College and amateur Bartlett began playing college soccer at Creighton University in 2011, but never made an appearance with the University. Mario Sanchez (soccer)
Mario Sanchez (born January 28, 1975) is an American soccer coach and former player who was most recently the interim head coach of Racing Louisville FC and the youth academy director for both Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC. He is the former head coach of Louisville City U-23, the SIUE Cougars men's soccer team, and the UNLV Rebels men's soccer team. Sanchez played professionally in the USISL and USL A-League, winning the 1996 and 1997 USISL championship with the Central Coast Roadrunners. Early life Sanchez graduated from Etiwanda High School in 1993. He played soccer for the Alta Loma Soccer Club which won the 1992 U-17 National Championship. SIU Edwardsville Cougars Men's Soccer
The SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's soccer team represents Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in the Missouri Valley Conference of NCAA Division I soccer. The Cougars play their home matches on Bob Guelker Field at Ralph Korte Stadium located in the southwest corner of the SIUE campus in Edwardsville, Illinois. It was announced on June 2, 2017, that the Cougars' men's soccer and wrestling teams would become affiliate members of the Mid-American Conference beginning in the 2018 season. Through the cooperative efforts of the MVC and the MAC, the Cougars soccer team made the move a year earlier than originally announced and played the 2017 season in the MAC. Plaster Stadium (formerly SMS Stadium, Briggs Stadium, and Plaster Sports Complex) is a 17,500-seat football stadium located in Springfield, Missouri. It is home to the Missouri State Bears football team.
