2015 Mexican League Season
The 2015 Mexican League season was the 91st season in the history of the Mexican League. It was contested by 16 teams, evenly divided in North and South zones. The season started on 3 April and ended on 14 September with the last game of the Serie del Rey, where Tigres de Quintana Roo defeated Acereros de Monclova to win the championship. This season marked the Mexican League's 90th anniversary. To celebrate it, the league presented a commemorative logo and slogan: ''90 años, historia imparable'' (90 years, unstoppable story). Mexican League
The Mexican League (, ) is a professional baseball league based in Mexico and the oldest running professional league in the country. The league has 18 teams organized in two divisions, North and South. Teams play 114 games each season. Five teams in each division advance to a four-round postseason tournament that culminates in the Serie del Rey, a best-of-seven championship series between the two division champions. The Mexican League has two affiliated minor leagues, the Liga Norte de México and Mexican Academy League. Though founded in 1925, the league joined the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues ( Minor League Baseball) in 1955, when it was designated a Double-A league. Pericos De Puebla
The Pericos de Puebla (English: "Puebla Parrots") are a professional baseball team in the Mexican League based in Puebla, Mexico. History The state of Puebla came upon baseball in the early 1920s when returning Poblanos that had come from military service who were based in the north of Mexico brought back with them this new sport which they share with the locals. Which the natives practice in their spare time spurning up numerous of amateurs baseball teams around the state. In 1922, General Andrés Zarzosa Verástegui founded an amateur baseball club Almazán de Puebla All former Puebla baseball clubs who went down to Mexico City to play exhibition games against the amateurs clubs from the state. In 1924 General Juan Andrew Almazán now owner of the club relocated in Mexico City. No one took charge of the club and so it was forgotten. Carlos Eduardo Lopez Avila (London, September 19, 1973) is a Venezuelan singer and songwriter, better known as Jeremias. Stolen Bases
In baseball, a stolen base occurs when a runner advances to a base to which they are not entitled and the official scorer rules that the advance should be credited to the action of the runner. The umpires determine whether the runner is safe or out at the next base, but the official scorer rules on the question of credit or blame for the advance under Rule 10 (Rules of Scoring) of the MLB's Official Rules. Hit (baseball)
In baseball statistics, a hit (denoted by H), also called a base hit, is credited to a batter when the batter safely reaches or passes first base after hitting the ball into fair territory with neither the benefit of an error nor a fielder's choice. Scoring a hit To achieve a hit, the batter must reach first base before any fielder can either tag him with the ball, throw to another player protecting the base before the batter reaches it, or tag first base while carrying the ball. The hit is scored the moment the batter reaches first base safely; if he is put out while attempting to stretch his hit to a double or triple or home run on the same play, he still gets credit for a hit (according to the last base he reached safely on the play). Corey Wimberly
Corey Leshaad Wimberly (born October 26, 1983) is an American former professional baseball player and manager who works in the Minor League Baseball system of the Boston Red Sox. Wimberly spent ten seasons playing in the minor leagues as an infielder and outfielder, including four seasons at the Triple-A level, before retiring after the 2016 season. Standing at 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 m) tall and weighing 170 pounds (77 kg), he was a switch hitter and threw right-handed. In baseball, a run is scored when a player advances around first, second and third base and returns safely to home plate, touching the bases in that order, before three outs are recorded and all obligations to reach base safely on batted balls are met or assured. A player may score by hitting a home run or by any combination of plays that puts him safely "on base" (that is, on first, second, or third) as a runner and subsequently brings him home. Run Batted In
A run batted in (RBI; plural RBIs ) is a statistic in baseball and softball that credits a batter for making a play that allows a run to be scored (except in certain situations such as when an error is made on the play). For example, if the batter bats a base hit which allows a teammate on a higher base to reach home and so score a run, then the batter gets credited with an RBI. Before the 1920 Major League Baseball season, runs batted in were not an official baseball statistic. Nevertheless, the RBI statistic was tabulated—unofficially—from 1907 through 1919 by baseball writer Ernie Lanigan, according to the Society for American Baseball Research. Japhet Isidro Amador Hernandez (born January 19, 1987), nicknamed "El Gigante de Mulegé", is a Mexican professional baseball first baseman and designated hitter for the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican League. Home Run
In baseball, a home run (abbreviated HR) is scored when the ball is hit in such a way that the batter is able to circle the bases and reach home plate safely in one play without any errors being committed by the defensive team. A home run is usually achieved by hitting the ball over the outfield fence between the foul poles (or hitting either foul pole) without the ball touching the field. Far less common is the "inside-the-park" home run where the batter reaches home safely while the baseball is in play on the field. Jesús Alexander Valdez Mejia (Cacao) (born November 2, 1984) is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder for El Águila de Veracruz of the Mexican League.
