2015 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships
The 2015 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships for A-Pool teams (Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, United States) was held at HarborCenter in Buffalo, New York, United States, from April 26 through May 3, 2015. This was the final time the event was known as the "IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships". On November 30, 2016, the International Paralympic Committee adopted the "World Para" brand across the ten sports it governs, the official name of the sport changed from "sledge hockey" to "Para ice hockey", and the event became the World Para Ice Hockey Championships. The World Championships for B-Pool teams (Austria, Great Britain, Poland, Slovakia, South Korea, Sweden) was held at Östersund Arena in Östersund, Sweden, from March 15 to March 21, 2015. HarborCenter
LECOM Harborcenter is an American mixed-use development in Buffalo, New York developed by Pegula Sports and Entertainment. The building occupies a full 1.7 acre city block formerly known as the Webster Block, directly across from and connected to the KeyBank Center and Canalside. The building is also near the southern terminus of the Erie Canal Harbor (Metro Rail) station. The development features retail and restaurant space, a 205-room Buffalo Marriott Harborcenter Hotel, as well as two hockey rinks that are the home of the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, the Canisius Golden Griffins of the NCAA, and the Erie Kats of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Corbin Watson
Corbin Watson (born January 6, 1987) is a Canadian Paralympic ice sledge hockey goalkeeper whose team won 3–0 against Norway and received bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Paralympics. Previously, he participated at the 2013 IPC World Sledge Hockey Championships where he and his team won gold medals. An amputee, he lost his lower right leg following a car crash in 2006. Dominic Larocque (born July 30, 1987) is a Canadian ice sledge hockey player. Early life Larocque was born in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec and lists his hometown as Quebec City. Derek Whitson
Derek Whitson (born 21 June 1989) is a Canadian ice sledge hockey player. Whitson was born in Chatham, Ontario in 1989, with cerebral palsy. He joined the Canadian Sledge Hockey Team in 2007 after playing sledge hockey in the Windsor Ice Bullets sledge hockey program. He was a member of the Canadian sledge hockey team that won the silver medal at the 2009 World Sledge Hockey Challenge, as well as the one that competed in the 2010 Winter Paralympics.
