Sigulda Bobsleigh, Luge, And Skeleton Track
The Sigulda bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track is located in Sigulda, Latvia, built in 1986. Currently, the track manager is Dainis Dukurs, former bobsleigh brakeman and the father of skeleton racers Martins and Tomass Dukurs. History Sledding took place in Sigulda as early as 1887. Olena Andriivna Stetskiv ( uk, Олена Андріївна Стецків, born 15 June 1994) is a Ukrainian luger. She participated at the 2014 and 2018 Winter Olympics. Career Stetskiv competed at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympics in Innsbruck, Austria, where she was 9th in the singles competition and 7th in the team relay (together with Dukach, Buryy, and Lehedza). Next season she debuted in World Cup competitions. As of February 2022, Stetskiv's best Luge World Cup finish was 12th during the 2018–19 in Altenberg, Germany. Emily Carolyn Sweeney (born November 28, 1993) is an American luger. She is the sister of fellow luger Megan Sweeney. Luge career During the 2009 World Cup season, Sweeney became Junior World Luge Champion and took bronze medals at the Junior World Cup at Winterberg, Germany and a gold medal at Park City, Utah. In December 2015, during World Cup competition on their home track in Lake Placid, Sweeney and teammates Erin Hamlin and Summer Britcher swept the field. It marked the first time the U.S. women knocked out the dominant German team. On November 26, 2017, she won her first World Cup gold medal in the sprint race at Winterberg. Emily Sweeney was selected as a member of the 2018 USA Olympic Team. Raluca Nicoleta Strămăturaru (born 22 November 1985 in Sinaia) is a Romanian luger who has competed since 1996. Her younger sister Violeta Strămăturaru is also a luger.
