Long Jump
The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". This event has a history in the ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympic event for men since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948. Rules At the elite level, competitors run down a runway (usually coated with the same rubberized surface as running tracks, crumb rubber or vulcanized rubber, known generally as an all-weather track) and jump as far as they can from a wooden or synthetic board, 20 centimetres or 8 inches wide, that is built flush with the runway, into a pit filled with soft damp sand. Nadine Visser
Nadine Visser (born 9 February 1995) is a Dutch athlete. She originally specialised in the heptathlon, but eventually switched to high hurdles (60 m hurdles indoor, and 100 m hurdles outdoor). Visser is the 2017 European Athletics U23 Champion on the 100 m hurdles, and the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Champion on the 60 m hurdles. Visser is coached by Bart Bennema, who is also the coach of Dafne Schippers. Career Visser's first sports were gymnastics and football; she took up athletics at age 13. She represented the Netherlands at the 2011 European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon, winning gold in both the 100 m hurdles and the 4 × 100 metres relay. Visser competed as a heptathlete at the 2012 World Junior Championships in Barcelona, placing eleventh with 5447 points. Dariya Derkach ( uk, Дар'я Деркач; born 27 March 1993) is an Italian female long jumper and triple jumper. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in Triple jump. Biography She was born in Ukraine but has been an Italian citizen since 27 May 2013. She has lived in the town of Pagani (close to Naples) in Italy with her parents since 2002. Her father, Serhiy (a former decathlete), is her coach. She trains in Formia where she has lived since the end of 2014. Her mother Oksana Derkach was a good triple jumper.
