The 2015 Daventry District Council election took place on 7 May 2015 to elect members of Daventry District Council in England. This was on the same day as other local elections. Daventry ( , historically ) is a market town and civil parish in the West Northamptonshire unitary authority in Northamptonshire, England, close to the border with Warwickshire. At the 2021 Census Daventry had a population of 28,123, making it the sixth largest town in Northamptonshire. Geography The town is north-northwest of London via the M1 motorway, west of Northampton, southwest of Rugby, Warwickshire, Rugby. and north-northeast of Banbury. UKIP
The UK Independence Party (UKIP; ) is a Eurosceptic, right-wing populist political party in the United Kingdom. The party reached its greatest level of success in the mid-2010s, when it gained two members of Parliament and was the largest party representing the UK in the European Parliament. The party is currently led by Neil Hamilton. UKIP originated as the Anti-Federalist League, a single-issue Eurosceptic party established in London by Alan Sked in 1991. The Liberal Democrats (commonly referred to as the Lib Dems) are a liberal political party in the United Kingdom. 2015 United Kingdom Local Elections
The 2015 United Kingdom local elections were held on Thursday 7 May 2015, the same day as the general election for the House of Commons of the United Kingdom. With the exception of those areas that have had boundary changes, the council seats up for election in England were last contested in the 2011 local elections. Background Elections would have been due in Northern Ireland given the previous elections to all 26 local councils in 2011, but these councils have since been scrapped and replaced by 11 super-councils, which had their inaugural elections in 2014. All registered electors (British, Irish, Commonwealth and European Union citizens) who will be aged 18 or over on the day of the election were entitled to vote in the local elections. Ken Ritchie
Dr Kenneth George Hutchison Ritchie (born 8 December 1946) is a British psephology, psephologist and former Labour and Co-operative councillor. He was the chief executive of the Electoral Reform Society from 1997 until 26 June 2010, and a member of the board from 2012 to 2019. Early life and education Kenneth Ritchie was the son of the late William Ritchie and Margaret Morton Ritchie (née Hutchison). He attended George Heriot's School in Edinburgh. Ritchie graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a BSc in mathematics, and then spent 18 months teaching maths in Tanzania with Voluntary Service Overseas during 1968 and 1969. After that, he returned to Britain to work as a systems analyst for Imperial Chemical Industries, where he worked from 1970 to 1973. Daventry District Council Elections
One third of Daventry District Council in Northamptonshire, England was elected each year, followed by one year when there was an election to Northamptonshire County Council instead. Since the last boundary changes in 1999, 38 councillors were elected from 24 wards. In another boundary review in 2012 the councillors were reduced to 36 councillors across 16 wards. The council was abolished in 2021, with the area becoming part of West Northamptonshire.
