2015 Birmingham Bulls Season
The 2015 Birmingham Bulls season was the team's 32nd season in competitive British American Football. It was also the first season under rookie Head Coach Mark Pagett and Chairman Richard Penwright, whilst Rob Amor returned for a fifth year as Club Secretary. The Bulls entered the 2015 season in the second tier following a league restructure, and were considered by some to be favourites for post-season success and immediate promotion back to the top tier. Following the departure of the previous coaching staff, former player Matt Sheldon was appointed as Offensive coordinator, while Alan Steel, departing the Coventry Jets, was appointed as Defensive coordinator. Birmingham Bulls (American Football)
The Birmingham Bulls are an American football team based in Birmingham, United Kingdom. They play their home games at Kings Norton RFC in Hopwood. They are a member of the NFC Division One South in the BAFA National Leagues. The Bulls are one of the longer established American football teams playing in the United Kingdom, having been founded in 1983, and are one of the most successful teams in British American Football, winning 4 British titles and 19 conference championships. The East Kent Mavericks are an American Football team based in Canterbury, Kent. First formed in 2001 as a flag football team, they are the BAFA National Leagues D2 National Champions, D2 SFC Conference Champions and D2 SFC East Division Champions. History The team was originally formed in 2001 as the Canterbury Coyotes. They immediately entered the British Senior Flag League, where they competed in the Southern Conference. After the six game regular season, they finished second with a 3-2-1 record, narrowly qualifying for the playoffs over the Bournemouth Raiders. They easily won their semifinal matchup away to the UCLA Renegades, scoring 34 points without reply to earn them a place in the final against the London Gators, which they eventually lost 14–22. The Hertfordshire Cheetahs (formerly the Watford Cheetahs and Chiltern Cheetahs) are an American football team based in Watford, including a senior kitted team (contact) competing in the BAFA National Leagues (BAFANL), Under 16 and under 19 kitted teams (contact) a women's kitted (formally the Hertfordshire Tornadoes) team and The Hertfordshire Cheetahs Flag Football under 11 and under 14 Flag football (non-contact) teams playing in the Youth Flag Football League (YFFL). The Cambridgeshire Cats are an American football team competing in Southern Football Conference 1, East Division of the BAFA National Leagues (BAFA NL), with their home games played at Coldhams Common in Cambridge. The club was first formed in 1984, entered senior competition in 1985 and won two divisional titles in the 1990s as well appearing in the playoffs a further six times before folding in 1998. They reformed once again in 2002 and re-entered senior competition, gaining promotion in 2003 only to be relegated two seasons later. Michael "Mike" Doyle (born 8 September 1991) is a British- American football wide receiver and assistant coach for the Birmingham Bulls of the BAFA National Leagues (BAFANL). He debuted for the Bulls in 2013. Early years Doyle was born in Birmingham and lived in the area his whole life, attending King's Norton Boys' School. It was during his time at King's Norton Sixth Form that he began a brief career at a local Sports Direct store. Football career Doyle debuted for the Birmingham Bulls in 2013, after attending rookie camp in late 2012. Although he originally arrived as a tight end, he quickly switched to wide receiver. After making a strong impression in camp, he was named as a starter for the opening game, away to the newly promoted West Coast Trojans, where he was the only Bulls receiver to complete a catch. Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. Colchester Gladiators
The Colchester Gladiators are an American Football team competing in the South East National League of British American Football League (BAFL). They play their home games at the Bryan Budd, Corporal Budd VC Gymnasium. The club was first formed in 1983 and entered senior competition in 1985 where they enjoyed a degree of success, winning the Budweiser League Premier Division playoffs in 1988 and only failing to make the post season playoffs on three occasions before the team folded in 1995. They reformed again in 2003 after a high-profile charity reunion match which featured TV presenter Dermot O'Leary. The Gladiators entered the BAFL the following year, gaining promotion in 2006 only to be relegated after just one season.
