2015 Atlanta Dream Season
The 2015 WNBA season was the 8th season for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association. This was the 2nd season under head coach Michael Cooper and the first season they have missed the playoffs since the 2008 season. The Dream opened their season up against the New York Liberty on June 5, 2022, with a 82–73 loss. Michael Cooper
Michael Jerome Cooper (born April 15, 1956) is an American basketball coach and former player who is the boys varsity coach at Culver City High School. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA), winning five NBA championships with the Lakers during their Showtime era. He was an eight-time selection to the NBA All-Defensive Team, including five times on the first team. He was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1987. Cooper's previous coaching jobs include leading the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) to two championships and the Albuquerque Thunderbirds to one NBA G League title. He has also coached in the NBA, WNBA, and the NBA Development League. Early life Cooper was born in Los Angeles. Jasmine Thomas (basketball)
Jasmine Thomas (born September 30, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). USA Basketball Thomas was selected as a member of the USA Women's U19 team which won the gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Championship in Bratislava, Slovakia. The event was held in July and August 2007, when the USA team defeated Sweden to win the championship. She averaged 7.4 points per game. Tiffany Kiara Hayes (born September 20, 1989) is an American-Azerbaijani professional basketball player for the Connecticut Sun of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Hayes played college basketball for the Connecticut Huskies, playing for the 2009 and 2010 NCAA National Champions. Early life Hayes was born September 20, 1989 in Fort Polk, a town in western Louisiana to Dorothy and Renard Hayes. High school Hayes played basketball for Winter Haven High School in Winter Haven, Florida. The team compiled a 117–9 record during her career, and won the state championship in 2004 and 2007. Erica Wheeler (basketball)
Erica Wheeler (born May 2, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Dream of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Wheeler was undrafted out of Rutgers, but eventually made her way into the WNBA in 2015. Early years Wheeler grew up in the Miami neighborhood of Liberty City. Liberty City is one of the worst, most crime-ridden inner cities in America, and Wheeler saw two of her close friends die when she was young. Wheeler attended Parkway Academy and was a member of the basketball team there. College career Wheeler committed to play at Rutgers in 2009. Rutgers reached the NCAA Tournament in each of her first three seasons. Wheeler contributed as a junior, leading the team in steals, and averaging just under 10 points per game. Matee Ajavon (born May 7, 1986) is a Liberian American basketball player. A 5'8" guard, Ajavon was chosen by the Houston Comets as the fifth overall draft pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft. Early life As a child, Ajavon immigrated to the United States with her family from Monrovia, Liberia. High school Ajavon graduated from Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, New Jersey. She led the Shabazz girls' basketball team to victory in the State of New Jersey's "Tournament of Champions" in both 2003 and 2004, the first time a school had repeated as champion. Roneeka Hodges (born July 19, 1982) is an American professional basketball coach for the New York Liberty of the WNBA (WNBA) and a former player. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, she is the twin sister of former WNBA player Doneeka Hodges. A 5'11" guard, Hodges played for three seasons with the Houston Comets, who selected her from the 2005 WNBA Draft in the second round, 15th overall.
