2015 American Athletic Conference Softball Tournament
The 2015 American Athletic Conference softball tournament was held at the UCF Softball Complex on the campus of the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida, from May 7 through May 9, 2015. The event determined the champion of the American Athletic Conference for the 2015 NCAA Division I softball season. Top-seeded won the tournament and earned the American Athletic Conference's automatic bid to the 2015 NCAA Division I softball tournament. All games were televised; the quarterfinals and semifinals were shown on the American Digital Network while the championship was broadcast on ESPN2. Renee Luers-Gillispie
Renee Luers-Gillispie is an American college softball coach and a former college player. Luers-Gillispie is currently the head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes softball team of the University of Iowa. Playing career Luers-Gillispie first attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she played for the softball team in 1981. After her freshman year, she transferred to West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas, where she was a three-year starter. As a player, she set nine career pitching records including most wins, most strikeouts and most saves at West Texas A&M. In 2005, Luers-Gillispie was inducted into the West Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame. Coaching career Luers-Gillispie began her coaching career at Joliet Junior College in 1991. 2015 NCAA Division I Softball Tournament
The 2015 NCAA Division I softball tournament was held from May 14 through June 3, 2015 as the final part of the 2015 NCAA Division I softball season. The 64 NCAA Division I college softball teams were selected out of an eligible 293 teams on May 10, 2015. Thirty-two teams were awarded an automatic bid as champions of their conference, and thirty-two teams were selected at-large by the NCAA Division I softball selection committee. The tournament culminated with eight teams playing in the 2015 Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. Automatic bids The Big 12, Big West, Mountain West, Pac-12, and West Coast Conference bids were awarded to the regular season champion.
