2014–15 Villanova Wildcats Men's Basketball Team
The 2014–15 Villanova Wildcats men's basketball team represented Villanova University in the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by head coach Jay Wright in his 14th season, the Wildcats participated as members of the Big East Conference and played their home games at The Pavilion , with some select home games at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They finished the season 33–3, 16–2 in Big East play to win the Big East regular season championship. They defeated Marquette, Providence, and Xavier to win the Big East tournament. As a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 1 seed in the East Region. Jay Wright (coach)
Jerold Taylor "Jay" Wright Jr. (born December 24, 1961) is an American former college basketball coach. He served as the head coach of Villanova University from 2001 until 2022. Wright led the Villanova to six Big East Conference championships and 16 NCAA Tournament appearances in his 21 seasons as head coach. Under Wright, Villanova reached four Final Fours (2009, 2016, 2018, 2022) and won two National championships in 2016 and 2018. Wright is widely regarded as one of the best coaches in NCAA history and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the 2021 class. He previously served as head coach at Hofstra University (1994–2001), leading the program to NCAA tournament appearances in both 2000 and 2001. The 2014–15 Xavier Musketeers men's basketball team represented Xavier University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Led by fifth year head coach Chris Mack, they played their games at the Cintas Center and were second year members of the Big East Conference. They finished the season 23–14, 9–9 in Big East play to finish in sixth place. They advanced to the championship game of the Big East tournament where they lost to Villanova. Mikal Bridges
Mikal Bridges (born August 30, 1996) is an American professional basketball player for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Villanova Wildcats, winning national championships in 2016 and 2018. James Tahj Mainor-Bell (born January 7, 1992) is an American professional basketball player for Passlab Yamagata Wyverns of the Japanese B.League. He played college basketball for Villanova before playing professionally in Italy, France, Israel, Turkey and Croatia. Colts Neck Township is a township in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. It is located in the New York Metropolitan Area. The 2014 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 68 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. The 2014 Big East men's basketball tournament, officially known as the 2014 Big East Championship, was the 35th overall edition of the Big East men's basketball tournament, but the first of the current Big East Conference.
