2014–15 Michigan State Spartans Women's Basketball Team
The 2014–15 Michigan State Spartans women's basketball team will represent Michigan State University during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Spartans, led by eighth year head coach Suzy Merchant, play their home games at the Breslin Center and were members of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 16–15, 7–11 in Big Ten play to finish in ninth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten women's tournament which they lost to Maryland. They did not participate in a postseason tournament for the first time since 2001. Suzy Merchant
Suzy Merchant (born July 26, 1969) is the current head coach for the Michigan State University Women's Basketball team. She is married to Gary Rakan and has two sons, Tyler Rakan and Brady Rakan. Coaching career Saginaw Valley State After inheriting a team with a losing record, Merchant quickly built the SVSU program into a winner, compiling a 54–29 record during her three-year tenure as head coach. During her first season, the team earned a 15–11 record before going 19–11 in the following year. The latter achievement earned the team a berth into the NCAA Division II Tournament for the second time in school history. In her final season, Saginaw Valley State collected a 20–7 record, and was ranked as high as 15th in the nation during the season. ACC–Big Ten Women's Challenge
The ACC–Big Ten Women's Challenge (or Big Ten–ACC Women's Challenge as it is called in alternating years) was an in-season NCAA Division I women's college basketball series established in 2007 that matches up teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Big Ten Conference. The challenge is identical in format to the men's ACC–Big Ten Challenge. The ACC–Big Ten Women's Challenge occurs early in the season, typically around late November or early December. The games were hosted by each of the schools. Originally, 11 games were played in the challenge, meaning one team from the ACC did not play each challenge. Nebraska's entry to the Big Ten allowed all 12 teams in each conference to play in the challenge. The 2014–15 Syracuse Orange women's basketball team will represent Syracuse University during the 2014–15 college basketball season. Quentin Hillsman resumes the responsibility as head coach for an eighth consecutive season. Winter Haven is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. It is fifty-one miles east of Tampa. The population was 49,219 at the 2020 census.
