2014–15 Charlotte 49ers Men's Basketball Team
The 2014–15 Charlotte 49ers men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Charlotte during the 2014–15 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 49ers, led by fifth head coach Alan Major, played their home games at the Dale F. Halton Arena and were members Conference USA. Major took an indefinite leave of absence January 6 for medical issues and was replaced by assistant coach Ryan Odom who finished the season as interim head coach. After the season ended, Major and the university agreed to mutually part way They finished the season 14–18, 7–11 in C-USA play to finish in a tie for eleventh place. Alan Major
Alan M. Major (born June 21, 1968) is an American basketball coach who is the head coach of Patriots BBC of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He was the head coach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from 2010 to 2015. Before being named coach of the Charlotte 49ers men's basketball, Charlotte 49ers, Major spent nine years working with Thad Matta at Ohio State and Xavier universities. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he is a 1992 graduate of Purdue University, Purdue. Major took an indefinite medical leave of absence due to multiple health issues in January 2015, and was replaced on an interim basis by his associate head coach, Ryan Odom. As of mid-2016, Major has a clean bill of health. He returned to the sidelines in 2016 as Director of Player Development back at Ohio State from 2016 to 2017. Vance High School
Julius L. Chambers High School, is a high school located in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. It is part of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System, and opened in 1997. The sports teams are known as the Cougars. Charleston Classic
The Charleston Classic is a three-day invitational college basketball season-opening tournament held in Charleston, South Carolina. An ESPN-owned and operated event, it is contested at TD Arena, home of the Charleston Cougars. TD Arena is a 5,100 seat multi-purpose arena in Charleston, South Carolina, United States that opened in 2008 and replaced John Kresse Arena as the home of the College of Charleston Cougars basketball and volleyball teams. The South Financial Group of Greenville purchased the naming rights to the new facility and it opened in 2008 under the Carolina First Arena name. 2014–15 Penn State Nittany Lions Basketball Team
The 2014–15 Penn State Nittany Lions basketball team represented Pennsylvania State University. Head coach Pat Chambers coached his fourth season with the team. The team played its home games in University Park, Pennsylvania, US at the Bryce Jordan Center and were a member of the Big Ten Conference. Alumni Gym (Elon University)
Alumni Gym is a 1,607-seat multi-purpose arena in Elon, North Carolina, United States. It was built in 1949 and was home to the Elon University men's and women's basketball teams and the women's volleyball team through the 2017–18 school year. The gym was renovated in 1992 to install air conditioning, new flooring, additional seating, offices, classrooms and renovated locker rooms and again in 2010 with the addition of stadium-style seating in a horseshoe shape, new scoreboards and video boards, new locker rooms, and a new entrance.
