Australian Women's Ice Hockey League
The Australian Women’s Ice Hockey League (AWIHL) is Australia, Australia’s top-tier women’s ice hockey league. Established in 2005 as Australia’s first women’s national league, the AWIHL has amateur sports, amateur status and is sanctioned by Ice Hockey Australia (a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation). The AWIHL is currently contested by five teams from five Australian states, including South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia and Victoria (Australia), Victoria. The league champion is awarded the Joan McKowen Memorial Trophy and the premier is awarded the Stephanie Boxall Trophy. The most successful team in AWIHL history is Melbourne Ice, who have claimed seven championship titles. Shootout (ice Hockey)
Overtime is a method of determining a winner in an ice hockey game when the score is tied after regulation. The main methods of determining a winner in a tied game are the overtime period (commonly referred to as overtime), the shootout, or a combination of both. If league rules dictate a finite time in which overtime may be played, with no penalty shoot-out to follow, the game's winning team may or may not be necessarily determined. Overtime periods Overtime periods are extra periods beyond the third regulation period during a game, where normal hockey rules apply. The Australian Ice Hockey Federation, currently trading as Ice Hockey Australia (IHA), is the official national governing body of ice hockey in Australia and is a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation. It was first established in 1908, making it one of the oldest national ice hockey associations in the world. The purpose of Ice Hockey Australia is to encourage, promote, control and administer all forms of ice hockey in and throughout Australia through and by various Member States for the mutual and collective benefit of the members and sport itself. Anjali Thakker
Anjali Dayalji Mulari (née Thakker) (born 20 August 1993) is a New Zealand ice hockey forward and inline hockey player. She is a member of the New Zealand women's national ice hockey team, Auckland Steel Ice Hockey Team and the Hamilton Devils Inline Hockey Team. Her previous teams include CHL Aranda de Duero of the Spanish Senior Women's Liga Elite, Ris-Orangis in France and Köping in Sweden. Early life Mulari was born in Christchurch, New Zealand to a Kiwi mother and an Indian father, and grew up in Hamilton. She began playing inline hockey at the age of 11, when she attended Fairfield Intermediate School. She graduated from Hillcrest High School when she was 17 years old. Mulari was a Sir Edmund Hillary Scholar at the University of Waikato and graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science major in Biochemistry. Ice World Boondall
Iceworld Boondall is an ice sports and public ice skating centre, located approximately 20 km north of Brisbane, Queensland. It hosts a number of major ice hockey games, including Australian Women's Ice Hockey League games. The venue offers a wide variety of activities including ice skating lessons, birthday parties, figure skating, speed skating, curling, synchronised skating, public skating sessions, and it is also the home venue of the Brisbane Goannas. Boondall is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Boondall had a population of 9,217 people. It was formerly known as Cabbage Tree Creek (after the creek that flows through the area). Geography Situated approximately north of Brisbane near Moreton Bay, almost halfway between Brisbane and the coastal city of Redcliffe. Bounded on the north by Deagon, Sandgate and Shorncliffe, on the east by Nudgee and Nudgee Beach, on the south by Banyo, Geebung and Virginia and on the west by Taigum and Zillmere. The borders of Boondall are defined by loosely following the Cabbage Tree Creek (Tighgum) to the north and then following down Muller Road in the west. Sydney Ice Arena
Sydney Ice Arena was an ice sports and public ice skating centre, located in Norwest, New South Wales. It hosted a number of major events, including Australian Ice Hockey League games. A development application was submitted by property owner Hillsong, seeking to demolish the arena to make way for apartment blocks with retail facilities, and was approved by council. The Ice Arena (stylised as IceArenA) is an ice sports and public skate centre, opened on 17 September 1981 and located in Thebarton, Adelaide, South Australia. The Ice Arena is South Australia's premier ice skating facility located just minutes from the Adelaide CBD.
