Target Shooting
Shooting sports is a group of competitive and recreational sporting activities involving proficiency tests of accuracy, precision and speed in shooting — the art of using ranged weapons, mainly small arms ( firearms and airguns, in forms such as handguns, rifles and shotguns) and bows/crossbows. Shooting sports can be categorized by equipment, shooting distances, targets, time limits and degrees of athleticism involved. Shooting sports may involve both team and individual competition, and team performance is usually assessed by summing the scores of the individual team members. Due to the noise of shooting and the high (and often lethal) impact energy of the projectiles, shooting sports are typically conducted at either designated permanent shooting ranges or temporary shooting fields in the area away from settlements. Barry Buddon
Barry Buddon Training Area is a Ministry of Defence-owned rifle range and training area in Barry, Angus, Scotland, which runs adjacent to Carnoustie Golf Links and the Dundee - Aberdeen railway Line. History Barry Buddon dates back to around 1850 when the area was used by the Forfarshire Rifle Volunteers, the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry, the Panmure Battery of the Forfarshire Artillery Brigade, and a Royal Naval Reserve Battery. In 1897 the Earl of Dalhousie sold the site to the War Office for use as a military training area. The training area covers 2,300 acres (930 hectares), of which 600 acres (240 hectares) is intertidal zone. The camp was expanded in the late 1990s and has accommodation for 507. With all camps and facilities at maximum usage about 130,000 personnel could use the training area each year. The ranges were used in the 1986 Commonwealth Games and the 2014 Commonwealth Games. European Shooting Confederation
The European Shooting Confederation (ESC) is an association of the International Shooting Sport Federation's member federations from Europe, the Caucasus, Cyprus, Israel, and Turkey. After the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the ISSF banned Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials from its competitions. In addition, the ESC stripped Russia of its right to host the 2022 European Shooting Championships in the 25m, 50m, 300m, running target and shotgun. The Asian Shooting Championships are governed by the Asian Shooting Confederation. Asian Shooting Championships began in 1967. These championships, including almost all ISSF shooting events, are held every four years. Viña del Mar (; meaning "Vineyard of the Sea") is a city and commune on central Chile's Pacific coast. Shooting At The 2014 South American Games
The shooting Competitions at the 2014 South American Games took place at the Polideportivo Viña in Viña del Mar, Chile from March 12 to 18. There were 14 competitions, nine for men and five for women. The winner of each tournament qualifies to compete at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada, with each athlete only able to claim one quota.
