2014 Women's European Volleyball League
The 2014 Women's European Volleyball League was the sixth edition of the annual Women's European Volleyball League, which featured women's national volleyball teams from eight European countries. Turkey defeated Germany 6–2 in the final, which was played over two legs, to capture their first title. Format This year saw no final four tournament. Instead the eight teams were split into two pools and played a round robin with playing three matchups at home and away, making a total of twelve games for each team. The top placed team of each group advanced to the final. Kübra Akman
Kübra Akman (born 13 October 1994) is a Turkish professional volleyball player. Career She played for Nilüfer Belediyespor before she transferred in 2012 to VakıfBank Türk Telekom. Akman was a member of the girls' youth national team and the women's junior national team. She wears number 3. Akman won the gold medal at the 2013 Club World Championship playing with Vakıfbank Istanbul. Three years later she won the bronze medal at the 2016 Club World Championship with the same club. The Women's European Volleyball League is a continental volleyball competition for senior women's national volleyball teams of Europe, organized by the European Volleyball Confederation ( CEV). Created in 2009, the competition served as a qualifying tournament for the FIVB World Grand Prix (until 2016) and its successor the FIVB Challenger Cup since 2018. This event should not be confused with the other, more prestigious, continental competition for European national volleyball teams, the European Volleyball Championship. Turkey Women's National Volleyball Team
The Turkey women's national volleyball team ( tr, Türkiye Kadın Voleybol Milli Takımı) is formed by the Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) and represents Turkey in international CEV and FIVB organizations. The team is one of the most successful national sports teams in the country and is nicknamed "Filenin Sultanları" ( en, Sultans of the Net) since the 2003 Women's European Volleyball Championship hosted in Ankara, Turkey. It is ranked sixth in the FIVB World Rankings as of October, 2022. It was the bronze medallist in both 2011 Women's European Volleyball Championship and 2012 FIVB World Grand Prix. Daniele Santarelli is the new head coach of the team. History Sabiha Gürayman was the first Turkish woman to engage in the game of volleyball, which was introduced in Turkey in the 1910s. 2015 FIVB World Grand Prix
The 2015 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix was the 23rd edition of the annual women's international volleyball tournament played by 28 countries from 26 June to 2 August 2015. This was the first time that the Group 1 final round was held in Omaha, Nebraska, United States.
