The UCI Road World Championships – Men's junior time trial, Men's junior time trial of the 2014 UCI Road World Championships took place in and around Ponferrada, Spain on 23 September 2014. The course of the race was with the start and finish in Ponferrada. Lennard Kämna became the first German rider to win the world title since Marcel Kittel in 2006, with a winning margin of almost 45 seconds over his nearest competitor. The silver medal went to American rider Adrien Costa, with the bronze medal going to Australia's Michael Storer; Costa and Storer were the only riders to get within a minute of Kämna's time. Qualification All National Federations were allowed to enter four riders for the race, with a maximum of two riders to start. In addition to this number, the outgoing World Champion and the current continental champions were also able to take part. Rainbow Jersey
The rainbow jersey is the distinctive jersey worn by the reigning world champion in a cycling discipline, since 1927. The jersey is predominantly white with five horizontal bands in the UCI colours around the chest. From the bottom up the colours are: green, yellow, black, red and blue; the same colours that appear in the rings on the Olympic flag. The tradition is applied to all disciplines, including road racing, track racing, cyclo-cross, BMX, Trials and the disciplines within mountain biking. A world champion must wear the jersey when competing in the same discipline, category and speciality for which the title was won. For example, the world road race champion would wear the garment while competing in stage races (except for time trial stages) and one-day races, but would not be entitled to wear it during time trials. Belgium at the UCI Road World Championships is an overview of the Belgian results at the UCI Road World Championships. The Belgian competitors are selected by coaches of the Royal Belgian Cycling League. Apart from cycling events at the four-yearly Summer Olympics, the only times that road cyclists appear in proper national selections (instead of in commercial cycling teams) of one or multiple athletes are the yearly UCI Road World Championships. Because of this, all Belgian national road cycling teams (either elite, amateur or younger teams) only compete as such during one day per year. Belgium first sent athletes to the World Championships in the early 1920s when only amateur cyclists competed.
