2014 Travelers Men's NOCA Provincials
The 2014 Travelers Men's NOCA Provincials, the provincial men's curling championship for Northern Ontario, were held from February 5 to 10 at the McIntyre Curling Club in Schumacher, Ontario, Schumacher, Ontario. The winning Jeff Currie rink represented Northern Ontario at the 2014 Tim Hortons Brier in Kamloops. Teams The defending champion Brad Jacobs rink did not participate in the event, as they are representing Canada at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Brad Jacobs
Bradley Robert Jacobs (born June 11, 1985) is a Canadian curler from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He is an Olympic champion skip, having led Canada to a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Jacobs is also the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier championship skip and the 2013 World Championship runner-up. He is an eight-time (as of 2017) Northern Ontario provincial champion, and one time provincial junior champion. Jacobs and his team are well known for their physical fitness. They have been described as "fitness freaks" and are "embracing curling's athletic evolution as much or more than any other team". Jacobs was born in Sault Ste. Bryan Burgess
Bryan Burgess (born January 30, 1977) is a Canadian curler from Thunder Bay, Ontario. He was a member of the Northern Ontario team at the 2001 Nokia Brier. He currently coaches the Dallas Burgess Junior team. Burgess was a member of the Al Hackner rink from the late 1990s to 2002. In 2001, Burgess won his only Northern Ontario provincial title, playing third for the team. At the 2001 Brier in Ottawa, the team finished with a 5-6 record. Burgess curled 79% during the tournament. Except for playing for Hackner in 2007-08, Burgess has skipped his own team since 2002. His only World Curling Tour event wins were the St. Paul Cash Spiel in 2006 and the 2000 North Bay Curling Classic with Hackner.
