2014 Toyota Racing Series
The 2014 Toyota Racing Series was the tenth running of the Toyota Racing Series, the premier open-wheeler motorsport category held in New Zealand. The series, which consists of five meetings of three races, began on 11 January at Teretonga Park in Invercargill and ended on 9 February with the 59th running of the New Zealand Grand Prix, at Manfeild Autocourse in Feilding. Teams and drivers All teams are New-Zealand registered. Race calendar and results The calendar for the series was announced on 4 July 2013, and will be held over five successive weekends in January and February. The series will visit Highlands Motorsport Park for the first time. The Highlands round will be supporting the V8SuperTourer series, whereas the Teretonga and Timaru rounds will be supporting the New Zealand V8s. The Formula Regional Oceania Championship is New Zealand's premier formula racing category. The series includes races for every major trophy in New Zealand circuit racing including the New Zealand Motor Cup and the Denny Hulme Memorial Trophy. Cromwell (Māori: ''Tīrau'') is a town in Central Otago in the Otago region of New Zealand. Timaru International Motor Raceway is a motor racing circuit situated about 10 minutes or outside of Timaru, New Zealand. The circuit is accessible from either State Highway 1 or the Timaru-Pleasant Point Highway. It is often called ''Levels'' because of its previous name ''Levels Raceway''. The Timaru International Motor Raceway holds some of the major sporting events on New Zealand's motorsport calendar. The New Zealand Touring Cars Championship (currently known as the Racer Products V8s for commercial reasons) is a New Zealand-based motorsport category of touring car racing. MotorSport New Zealand, New Zealand's national governing and sanctioning body for motorsport, awarded the category "New Zealand Touring Car Championship" title status in 1996. V8SuperTourer
The V8SuperTourers Championship was a motor racing series in New Zealand which started in 2012 and folded in 2015. The cars were then absorbed into the NZ Touring Cars championship. The car was based on a "Car-of-the-Future" prototype built by Paul Ceprnich of Pace Innovations Australia similar to that of the Australian V8 Supercar series. It was designed to be customised to many different manufacturers vehicles including a Holden VE Commodore, Ford FG Falcon, Toyota Camry or BMW 5 Series. Testing started in April 2010. The V8SuperTourer Championship was run by V8SuperTourers Limited, a company formed by current NZV8 team owners Mark Petch, Wayne Anderson and Garry Pedersen. Highlands Motorsport Park
The Highlands Motorsport Park is a motor racing circuit in Cromwell, Otago, New Zealand. Opened in 30 March 2013, the facility features a circuit. Circuit The circuit offers on and off track driving, an outdoor go-kart track, off-road buggy driving, a sculpture park and "The Nose" restaurant. It is also the home of the New Zealand National Motorsport Museum, and displays machinery including ex-Formula One cars. In early 2016, Highlands acquired the only Aston Martin Vulcan in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of only 24 worldwide, for $4.2 million. Brendon Leitch (born 28 November 1995), is a New Zealand motor racing driver. Career Leitch began car racing in the Formula Ford category in 2009, racing in the South Island Formula Ford Championship. The following year, he would contend the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship, with modest results. The following two years would be more successful for Leitch, finishing third in the 2011-12 championship, and second the following season. Following these strong performances, Leitch would contend the Toyota Racing Series for the 2014 season - joining brother Damon. Damon Leitch (born 23 December 1992 in Invercargill) is a New Zealand racing driver. He competed in the Toyota Racing Series from 2011 to 2014. Career Leitch began his racing career in karting when he was six years old. In 2007 he began racing in formula racing series. From 2007 to 2010 he started in the New Zealand Formula Ford championship. His best championship position was a fourth place in 2010. Leitch switch to the Toyota Racing Series in 2011.
