2014 Rhode Island Elections
A general election was held in the U.S. state of Rhode Island on November 4, 2014. All of Rhode Island's executive officers went up for election as well as a United States Senate seat and both of Rhode Island's two seats in the United States House of Representatives. Primary elections were held on September 9, 2014. Governor Incumbent Democratic Governor Lincoln Chafee was eligible to run for re-election to a second term, but decided to retire. The Democratic nominee was Rhode Island Treasurer Gina Raimondo and the Republican nominee was Cranston Mayor Allan Fung. Also running were Robert J. Cumberland, Rhode Island
Cumberland is the northeasternmost town in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States, first settled in 1635 and incorporated in 1746. The population was 36,405 at the 2020 census, making it the seventh-largest municipality and the largest town in the state. History Cumberland was originally settled as part of Wrentham, Massachusetts, which was purchased from the local Indigenous Americans by the Plymouth Colony. Housing Works is a New York City-based non-profit fighting AIDS and homelessness. Dawson Tucker Hodgson (born July 10, 1978) is an American politician and a Republican member of the Rhode Island Senate who represented the 35th district from January 4, 2011 until January 6, 2015. Peter F. Kilmartin (born 1962) was the 73rd Attorney General of Rhode Island. Kilmartin is also a retired police captain and a former member of the Rhode Island House of Representatives. Biography Kilmartin was born February 18, 1962, in Rhode Island. Kilmartin attended William E. Tolman High School in Pawtucket and graduated in 1980. Kilmartin was sworn in as a police officer with the Pawtucket Police Department in June 1984 while continuing his studies at Roger Williams University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in 1988. Scott Avedisian (born January 16, 1965) is an American politician and the former Republican mayor of Warwick, Rhode Island, the third largest city in the state after Providence and Cranston. Avedisian represented Ward 1 in the Warwick City Council from 1990 to 2000, being reelected four times. He was first elected mayor in 2000, and served until 2018. He is the youngest person ever elected as Mayor of Warwick and was the youngest person ever elected to the Warwick City Council. John Lester Hubbard Chafee ( ; October 22, 1922 – October 24, 1999) was an American politician and officer in the United States Marine Corps.
