Nick Besler (born May 7, 1993) is an American professional soccer player. Career College Besler spent his entire college career at the University of Notre Dame. He made a total of 72 appearances for the Fighting Irish and tallied two goals and five assists. He also helped the Fighting Irish win the 2013 College Cup. Professional On January 15, 2015, Besler was selected 5th overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft by the Portland Timbers. The 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference men's soccer tournament was the 28th edition of the ACC Men's Soccer Tournament. The tournament decided the Atlantic Coast Conference champion and guaranteed representative into the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. Qualification The top ten teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference earned a berth into the ACC Tournament. The play-in and quarterfinal rounds were held at the higher seed's home field. The 2014 Atlantic Coast Conference men's soccer season was the 62nd season of men's varsity soccer in the conference. It marked the arrival of the Louisville Cardinals men's soccer program, who joined the ACC from the American Athletic Conference. The Maryland Terrapins men's soccer program, who were both the defending regular season and tournament champions, departed the conference for the Big Ten Conference. The 2013 NCAA Division I men's soccer tournament was the 55th edition of the tournament. The four team College Cup finals tournament was held at PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania on December 13 and 15, 2013. On December 15, Notre Dame defeated Maryland, 2–1, to win its first national title. Qualified Teams A total of 48 teams qualified into the tournament proper, either automatically, or through an at-large bid that is determined by a selection committee.
