2014 New York Jets Season
The 2014 New York Jets season was the franchise's 45th season in the National Football League and the 55th overall. The Jets failed to improve on their 8–8 regular season record in 2013 and were eliminated from postseason contention for the fourth consecutive season after a Week 12 loss to the Buffalo Bills. As a result, head coach Rex Ryan was fired on December 29, 2014, after compiling a 46–50 record in six seasons. Transactions Coaching and personnel changes * Linebackers coach Brian VanGorder was hired as Notre Dame's defensive coordinator. Defensive quality control coach Bobby April III was promoted to replace VanGorder. * Special teams coach Ben Kotwica was hired by the Washington Redskins for the same position. The American Football Conference – Eastern Division or AFC East is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Eric Smith (safety)
Eric Smith (born March 17, 1983) is a former American football safety for the New York Jets. He was drafted by the Jets in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played college football at Michigan State. Professional career Smith was selected in the third round with the 97th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Smith had been rising on many draft boards in the weeks leading up to the draft as he was praised for his instincts and physicality on the field. The Jets signed Smith to a contract on July 21, 2006. Smith recorded 27 tackles in 15 games during his rookie season. He also added two interceptions, recording his first against former Cleveland Browns quarterback Charlie Frye. Jacoby Ford (born July 27, 1987) is a former American football wide receiver and return specialist. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He was also an accomplished track and field athlete. He played college football as a wide receiver and return specialist for the Clemson Tigers at Clemson University, where he competed in sprinting events. Michael Vick
Michael Dwayne Vick (born June 26, 1980) is a former American football quarterback. Regarded as having transformed the quarterback position with his rushing abilities, he is the NFL leader in quarterback rushing yards and was the league's first quarterback to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. Eric Thomas Decker (born March 15, 1987) is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for eight seasons. He played college football and college baseball at the University of Minnesota, and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. After four seasons with the Broncos, Decker played for the New York Jets for three years, then the Tennessee Titans for one season. Breno Gomes Giacomini (born September 27, 1985) is a former American football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the fifth round in the 2008 NFL Draft. Johnny Patrick (born August 17, 1988) is a former American football cornerback. He was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Brandon Hardin (born October 30, 1989) is a former American football safety who played in the National Football League (NFL) for two seasons. Ras-I Luis Dowling ( ; born May 9, 1988) is a former American football safety who is currently the cornerbacks coach for William & Mary Tribe football. He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia. He has also spent time with the New York Jets and Oakland Raiders.
