2014 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship
The 2014 NCAA women's gymnastics tournament was the 39th NCAA women's gymnastics tournament, the annual women's gymnastics championship contested by the teams of the member associations of NCAA. The first round (regionals) was hosted on campuses from on April 5, 2014, and the semi-finals and final were held at Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex in Birmingham, Alabama from April 18 to April 20, 2014. Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex
The Birmingham–Jefferson Convention Complex (formerly known as Birmingham–Jefferson Civic Center) is a sports, convention and entertainment complex located in Birmingham, Alabama. The Sheraton Birmingham and Westin Birmingham are located on the complex adjoining the convention center. Alongside numerous exhibit halls, meeting and ballrooms, the complex features four entertainment venues: a stadium, an arena, concert hall, and theater. Design and architecture The Birmingham–Jefferson Civic Center was designed by Geddes Brecher Qualls Cunningham, the winner of what was, at the time, the largest open architectural competition ever organized by the American Institute of Architects. Mackenzie Caquatto
Mackenzie Caquatto Jaworksi (born March 26, 1992) is a former artistic gymnast who represented the United States at the 2010 World Championships and competed for the University of Florida. Her younger sister, Bridgette Caquatto, is also a former elite gymnast. She married former elite runner Griffin Jaworski on September 4, 2020. Gymnastics career 2007–9 Caquatto first qualified as an elite gymnast in 2007 and competed at the National Championships that year, finishing 17th. Her first senior competition was the 2008 National Championships, where she placed 10th in the all-around. Oregon State Beavers
The Oregon State Beavers are the athletic teams that represent Oregon State University, located in Corvallis, Oregon. Georgia Gym Dogs
The Georgia Gymdogs (officially the Georgia Bulldogs) is the women's gymnastics team of the University of Georgia. The team is part of NCAA Division I and competes in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Gymdogs compete in Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, Georgia. The Gymdogs lead the nation with 10 NCAA Women's Gymnastics championship titles (including five consecutive wins from 2005–09) and 16 SEC championships. Arkansas Razorbacks
The Arkansas Razorbacks, also known as the Hogs, are the intercollegiate athletics teams representing the University of Arkansas, located in Fayetteville. The University of Arkansas student body voted to change the name of the school mascot (originally the Cardinals) in 1910 to the Arkansas Razorbacks after a hard-fought battle against LSU in which they were said to play like a "wild band of Razorback hogs" by former coach Hugo Bezdek. Katherine Grable
Katherine Grable is an American gymnast. Competing as a gymnast for the Arkansas Razorbacks, Grable capped off her career by winning both the Vault and the Floor at the 2014 NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, also attaining second in the All-Around. She won on Floor with a score of 9.9625, while her score of 9.975 on Vault (tied with Rheagan Courville) was the highest in the history of the NCAA championships for that event. 2014 was Katherine's fourth trip to the NCAA Event Finals – and also the last meet of her college gymnastics career. Jessica Savona (born July 19, 1994) is a Canadian artistic gymnast and an alternate for the 2012 Summer Olympics team. After the Olympics, she will attend and compete for Louisiana State University. Junior career 2008 In February, Savona tore her right anterior cruciate ligament while performing her beam dismount and had surgery to repair it in May. 2009 In June, Savona competed at the Canadian Championships in Hamilton, Canada. Lloimincia D'Chelle Hall (born January 27, 1993 in Garland, TX) is a former American artistic gymnast, who competed in the NCAA for the LSU Lady Tigers gymnastics team. Hall attracted significant media attention due to her unique and dynamic floor routine and choreography. Club career Hall competed as a Level 10 throughout her whole competitive career. LSU Lady Tigers Gymnastics
The LSU Tigers women's gymnastics team represents Louisiana State University in NCAA Division I women's gymnastics. The team competes in the Southeastern Conference and is currently coached by Jay Clark, who is coaching in his fifth season. The Pete Maravich Assembly Center serves as the home arena for the team. History The gymnastics program was founded in 1970. In 2008, LSU made their first Super Six appearance. The team also made Super Six appearances in 2009, 2013 and 2014. McKenzie Wofford
McKenzie Kristine Wofford (born September 8, 1995 in Texas) is a retired American artistic gymnast. During her club career, she competed in four U.S. Nationals and was part of the U.S. National team for the 2010 and 2011 seasons and was also the alternate for the U.S. team at the 2011 Pan American Games. Club career Wofford has competed at four U.S. National Championships (2008–10, and 2012) but has qualified for six (also 2007 and 2011) but had to scratch from those due to injury. She was a U.S. National Team member in 2010 and 2011 as a junior and senior. In 2011, she was also named as an alternate to the U.S. team travelling to the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara.
