2014 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship
The 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship was the 44th annual single-elimination tournament to determine the national championship for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's college lacrosse. Eighteen teams competed in the tournament, selected by winning an automatic qualifying conference tournament or as an at-large bid based upon their performance during the regular season. The Divisions I men’s lacrosse committees announced the teams in the field on 4 May 2014. Tournament overview The tournament started on May 7, 2014 with two play-in games that were played on campus sites. The winners of the games, Bryant and Air Force, advanced onto the first round of the tournament. The tournament concluded with the championship game on May 29 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. M&T Bank Stadium
M&T Bank Stadium is a multi-purpose football stadium located in Baltimore, Maryland. It is the home of the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). The stadium is immediately adjacent to Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the home of the Baltimore Orioles. ECAC Lacrosse League
The ECAC Lacrosse League was an American NCAA Division I college athletic conference and part of the Eastern College Athletic Conference. Founded in 1999 with play beginning in 2000, this part of the conference only sponsored men's lacrosse. It disbanded at the end of the 2014 season as an indirect result of the early-2010s NCAA conference realignment. History The founding members included Georgetown University, Pennsylvania State University (Penn State), Rutgers University, Stony Brook University, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the United States Naval Academy. The Cornell Big Red men's lacrosse team represents Cornell University in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse. History As a member of the Ivy League, Cornell has won 30 conference championships (18 outright, 12 shared), more than any other school (Princeton has won 27 – 18 outright, 9 shared). The Ivy League awards the conference championship to the team with the best record at the conclusion of the regular season. Air Force Falcons Men's Lacrosse
The Air Force Falcons men's lacrosse team represents the United States Air Force Academy in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college lacrosse. The program was created in 1967. Air Force plays its home games at Falcon Stadium, which has a capacity of 46,692. The Richmond Spiders represent the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia. The Spiders compete in the Division I FCS of the National Collegiate Athletic Association as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference for most sports. The Penn Quakers men's lacrosse team represents the University of Pennsylvania in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's lacrosse. Loyola Greyhounds Men's Lacrosse
The Loyola Greyhounds men's lacrosse team represents Loyola University Maryland in NCAA Division I lacrosse. Its home matches are played at the Ridley Athletic Complex. Charley Toomey has served as its head coach since 2006. It became a member of the Patriot League along with the university's other intercollegiate athletic programs on July 1, 2013. The Bryant Bulldogs are the athletic teams representing Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
