2014 Men's World Open Squash Championship
The 2014 PSA Men's World Squash Championship is the men's edition of the 2014 World Championship, which serves as the individual world championship for squash players. The event took place in Doha in Qatar from 14 to 21 November 2014. Ramy Ashour won his third World Championship title, defeating Mohamed El Shorbagy in the final. World Open (squash)
The World Squash Championships are squash events for men and women organised by the Professional Squash Association. The men's event was first held in 1976 in London, England and the women's was inaugurated in 1976 in Brisbane, Australia. Overview The British Open had for many years been generally considered to be the sport's effective world championship, and this continued to be the case until the World Open (now called World Championship) was established. The women's World Championship was held once every two years until the early 1990s, when it became an annual event. The men's event has been held every year since 1976, except for a two-year gap in 2000 and 2001 when it was not held due primarily to difficulties in securing sponsorship. In recent years, the men's World Championship has been part of the PSA World Series. Tarek Momen (born 23 February 1988 in Cairo) is a professional squash player representing Egypt. He is a former World Champion, and reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 3 in February 2019. Mazen Hesham (born 29 March 1994 in Cairo) is a professional squash player who represents Egypt. He reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 8 in March 2022. Career Hesham first became prominent in 2012, when he secured third place in the WSF junior championships in Doha. Following this victory he joined the PSA world Tour. Hesham secured his first PSA world tour title in March of the same year in the NSC scram series in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia.
