Mesud Barzani
Masoud Barzani ( ku, ,مهسعوود بارزانی, translit=Mesûd Barzanî}; born 16 August 1946) is a Kurdish politician who has been leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) since 1979, and was President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq from 2005 to 2017. Early life and career Barzani was born in the territory controlled by the self-declared Republic of Mahabad, and succeeded his father Mustafa Barzani as leader of the KDP in 1979. Working closely with his brother Idris Barzani until Idris's death, Barzani and various other Kurdish groups fought with the Islamic Republic of Iran against the Iraqi military during the Iran–Iraq War. Barzani has played a key role in the development of the Kurdistan Region polity since the Gulf War. Ali Bapir, A.K.A Mamosta Ali Bapir ( ku, عهلی باپیر) is a Kurdish Islamic scholar and politician in Iraqi Kurdistan. He is the founder and current president of the Kurdistan Justice Group (formerly known as the Islamic Group of Kurdistan). He was born in 1961 in the Pshdar district, Iraqi Kurdistan. He has written over 150 books on politics, Islam, society, Kurds, and Kurdistan. He is the most popular politician with the Kurdish Islamism ideology. In the 2009 Iraqi general elections for the Council of Representatives, he was one of the 10 candidates with the most votes in the country. Bapir fought against Saddam Hussein's regime in the 1980s as a Peshmerga fighter. Bapir also notoriously killed his own brother, who worked with Saddam Hussein's regime to kill an IMK member. Salahaddin Mohammed Bahaaddin Sadiq ( ku, سەڵاحەدین محەممەد بەهائەدین / Arabic: صلاح الدین محمد بهاء الدین) is a Kurdish Iraqi politician, (born July 1, 1950) in Tawela, a town referring to Halabja.He is a graduate of The House of Teachers 1969. He is the co-founder and current Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Islamic Union, and a former member of the Iraqi Governing Council. Career Teacher He worked as a teacher from 1971 to 1981. Then he was ordered to be arrested by the former Iraqi regime. After he refused to join the Iraqi Army, he was dismissed from his career. Having refused to join the Baath Party, he was tortured and faced the threat of further violence until he left Iraq and spent 10 years in diaspora, living in Iran, Turkey and the Gulf countries. Kurdistan Islamic Union ( ku, یەکگرتووی ئیسلامیی کوردستان ;Yekgirtiya Îslamî ya Kurdistanê), colloquially referred to as Yekgirtû, is an Islamist party in Iraqi Kurdistan. Leadership and supporters Salahaddin Bahaaddin cofounded the Kurdistan Islamic Union on February 6, 1994. In the first General Conference he was elected as the Secretary General of the party. Later, in the second, the third, and the fourth Conferences he was also elected as the Secretary General. The Kurdistan Democratic Party ( ku, Partiya Demokrat a Kurdistanê; پارتی دیموکراتی کوردستان), usually abbreviated as KDP or PDK, is the largest party in Iraqi Kurdistan and the senior partner in the Kurdistan Regional Government. It was founded in 1946 in Mahabad in Iranian Kurdistan.
