2014 Kilkenny County Council Election
An election to Kilkenny County Council took place on 23 May 2014 as part of 2014 Irish local elections, that year's Irish local elections. 24 councillors were elected from three electoral divisions by PR-STV voting for a five-year term of office, a reduction of 2 seats from the previous election in 2009. In addition the Kilkenny Borough Council was abolished. Fianna Fáil became the largest party after the elections securing 10 Council seats, a gain of 3. Fine Gael, by contrast, had a very poor set of results and lost 5 of their Council seats returning with 7 seats in all. Sinn Féin broke through in the county winning 3 seats, while Labour retained just 2 seats on the Council. Malcolm Noonan of the Greens was re-elected in Kilkenny city and Independents secured the final seat. 2019 Kilkenny County Council Election
A Kilkenny County Council election was held in County Kilkenny, Ireland on 24 May 2019 as part of that year's local elections, with all 24 councillors to be elected for a five-year term of office from 4 local electoral areas (LEAs) by single transferable vote. Following a recommendation of the 2018 Boundary Committee, the boundaries of the LEAs were altered from those used in the 2014 elections. Fianna Fáil gained 1 additional seat to increase their numbers to 11 while also increasing their vote by 4%. Fine Gael gained 2 seats and also increased their vote by 2%. Labour and the Greens retained their previous position but it was a disastrous election for Sinn Féin. The party lost all 3 seats, including Sean Tyrell, the partner of Kathleen Funchion TD and saw a significant drop in their vote-share. Kilkenny County Council ( ga, Comhairle Chontae Chill Chainnigh) is the authority responsible for local government in County Kilkenny, Ireland. As a county council, it is governed by the Local Government Act 2001. The 2014 Irish local elections were held in all local government areas of the Republic of Ireland on Friday, 23 May 2014, on the same day as the European Parliament election and two by-elections ( Dublin West and Longford–Westmeath). The poll in the Ballybay–Clones LEA on Monaghan County Council was deferred due to the death of a candidate. Daithí Holohan (born 1956) is an Irish artist from Kilkenny. Specialising in portraiture, he also does landscape and still life. Holohan studied Fine Art Painting at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD) and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1978. Ramie Leahy
'Ramie Leahy is an Irish artist known for his use of color and as a co-founder of the Kilkenny Arts Festival. Leahy attended primary school in Kilkenny and later studied painting and sculpture at various art institutions in Ireland. He received a scholarship to study visual arts in Florence, Italy where he created a series of political works about the Troubles in Northern Ireland. He is a member of Fianna Fáil, and was formerly a member of Renua and was their candidate in the 2015 Carlow-Kilkenny Dáil by-election. Background McKee was born in June 1988.
