2014 Irish Cricket Season
In the 2014 Irish cricket season, Ireland hosted three international series, against Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka A and Scotland, losing the two against Sri Lankan teams, but beating Scotland. In domestic cricket, Leinster Lightning won two of the three competitions, while North-West Warriors won the other. International cricket One Day International series against Sri Lanka Prior to their series against England, the Sri Lanka national cricket team visited Ireland in May to contest two ODIs, both hosted at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin. Sri Lanka National Cricket Team
The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, ( si, ශ්රී ලංකා ජාතික ක්රිකට් කණ්ඩායම, ta, இலங்கை தேசிய கிரிக்கெட் அணி) nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. Andy Balbirnie
Andrew Balbirnie (born 28 December 1990) is an Irish cricketer, the current captain of the Ireland cricket team in all formats. Balbirnie is a right-handed batsman and an occasional wicket-keeper. He was born in Dublin and was educated at St. Andrew's College. He was one of the 11 cricketers to play in Ireland's first ever Test match, against Pakistan, in May 2018. In December 2018, he was one of 19 players to be awarded a central contract by Cricket Ireland for the 2019 season. Matthew Cross (cricketer)
Matthew Henry Cross (born 15 October 1992) is a Scottish cricketer who plays for Scotland and is a right-handed wicket-keeper batsman. Cross made his One Day International debut for Scotland against Canada on 23 January 2014. Career Matthew Cross served as the Scotland U19 vice-captain during the 2011 U19 World Cup. He is studying Engineering at Loughborough University. Matthew became a member of Aberdeenshire CC at age nine. His performances with Loughbourgh MCCU and Scotland U19s were considered outstanding. Majid Haq
Rana Majid Haq Khan (born 11 February 1983), better known as Majid Haq, is a Scottish cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and an off spin bowler. He has represented Scotland at Under 17, Under 19 and Under 23 levels, making his debut for the senior side on 20 July 2002 in a European Championship match against an England Board XI. He was a member of the Scottish squad for the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies. Haq is a cousin of fellow cricketer Omer Hussain. Richie Berrington
Richard Douglas Berrington (born 3 April 1987) is a Scottish cricketer. He played for Scotland in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka, and has since played first-class, One Day International, and List A cricket for Scotland. In June 2022, Berrington was named as the captain of the national team, after Kyle Coetzer stepped down from leading the side. Early life and youth career Berrington was born in Pretoria, South Africa, but he emigrated to Scotland as a child. In cricket, a five-wicket haul (also known as a "five-for" or "fifer") refers to a bowler taking five or more wickets in a single innings. This is regarded as a significant achievement. As of May 2019, there have been more than 4100 ODIs have been played, however there are only 14 occasions where a player achieved this feat on his ODI debut. Max Christian Sorensen (born 18 November 1985) is an Irish former international cricketer of South African origin, who played for the Irish national team. Born in Johannesburg, Sorensen is a right-handed batsman who bowls right-arm fast-medium. He has played for The Hills Cricket Club in Dublin since 2007. George Henry Dockrell (born 22 July 1992) is an Irish cricketer. Kevin Joseph O'Brien (born 4 March 1984) is an Irish former international cricketer who plays for Leinster and Railway Union Cricket Club. John Francis Mooney (born 10 February 1982) is a former Irish cricketer. A left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium fast bowler, Mooney made his first-class debut in 2004. He had previously represented Ireland in the Under-19s World Cup of 2000 and has captained Ireland A. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut in 2006 in Ireland's inaugural match in the format.
