2014 Houston Astros Season
The 2014 Houston Astros season was the 53rd season for the franchise in Houston, their 50th as the Astros and their 15th season at Minute Maid Park. The Astros failed to make the playoffs, but made a nineteen win improvement from the previous season, finishing 70-92. The Astros also avoided last place in the AL West, finishing three games ahead of the Rangers. It was the first time since 2010 that the Astros did not finish in last place for their division, and featured the best overall season record since that season as well. American League West
The American League West is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. The division has five teams as of the 2013 season, but had four teams from 1994 to 2012, and had as many as seven teams before the 1994 realignment. Although its teams currently only reside along the West Coast of the United States, west coast and in Texas, historically the division has had teams as far east as Chicago. From 1998 (when the NL West expanded to five teams) to 2012, the AL West was the only MLB division with four teams. The current champion of this division is the Houston Astros. In 2013, the Houston Astros went from the National League Central to the AL West. That move gives all six MLB divisions an equal five teams and both leagues an equal 15 teams each. Alejandro Treviño Castro (born August 26, 1957) is a Mexican former professional baseball catcher. He is the younger brother of former Major League Baseball outfielder Bobby Treviño. Early years Treviño was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. Tyler Skaggs
Tyler Wayne Skaggs (July 13, 1991July 1, 2019) was an American left-handed professional baseball starting pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Angels from 2012 until his death in 2019. A native of Woodland Hills, California, and a graduate of Santa Monica High School, Skaggs was a supplemental first-round selection for the Angels in the 2009 Major League Baseball draft. He was traded to the Diamondbacks the following year as part of an exchange for pitcher Dan Haren and rose through Arizona's farm system. Lucas Harrell
Lucas William Bradley Harrell (born June 3, 1985) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, and Toronto Blue Jays. Harrell has also played for the LG Twins of the KBO League. High school As a shortstop/pitcher, Harrell led Ozark High School to its first state championship in 2004 over Mary Institute and the Saint Louis Country Day School. He has previously played in MLB for the Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers. The 2014 Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim season was the franchise's 54th season and 49th in Anaheim (all of them at Angel Stadium). The Angels achieved a historically significant milestone during the course of the season by improving their all-time winning percentage to above the .500 mark. The Angels won their 89th game of the season on September 9 to ensure that they would become the first post-1960 expansion team to finish a season with an all-time winning record since the Houston Astros at the conclusion of the 2006 MLB season. David Robertson (baseball)
David Alan Robertson (born April 9, 1985), nicknamed D-Rob, is an American professional baseball pitcher for the New York Mets of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, and Philadelphia Phillies. Robertson played college baseball for the Alabama Crimson Tide. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, and Los Angeles Angels. Hiroki Kuroda
is a Japanese former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for Hiroshima Toyo Carp from 1997 to 2007 before playing in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2008 to 2011 and New York Yankees from 2012 to 2014.
