2014 Gold Coast Sevens
The 2014 Gold Coast Sevens was the first tournament of the 2014-15 Sevens World Series. It was held over the weekend of 11–12 October 2014 at Cbus Super Stadium in Queensland, Australia, and was the twelfth completed edition of the Australian Sevens tournament. Format The teams were drawn into four pools of four teams each. Each team played everyone in their pool one time. The top two teams from each pool advanced to the Cup/Plate brackets. The bottom two teams from each group went to the Bowl/Shield brackets. Argentine Rugby Union
The Argentine Rugby Union ( es, Unión Argentina de Rugby, abbreviated "UAR") is the governing body for rugby union in Argentina. It is a member of World Rugby, with a seat on that body's Executive Council, and a founding member of Sudamérica Rugby. The UAR organises all the national teams, including Senior (''Pumas''), U-20 (''Pumitas''), Argentina XV, Sevens and Women's squads and the franchise Jaguares that participates in SANZAAR's Super Rugby competition. The Gold Coast is a coastal city in the state of Queensland, Australia, approximately south-southeast of the centre of the state capital Brisbane. Marius Van Der Westhuizen
Marius van der Westhuizen (born 6 January 1984) is a South African professional rugby union referee, currently on the Premier Panel of the South African Rugby Referees' Association. He is well known for his dominant match involvement and for ensuring his home team the Bulls get the rub of the green, whenever possible. Early career Van Der Westhuizen was born in Cape Town, South Africa. He started his refereeing career in 2007 and refereed in matches in the leagues. In 2009, he became a member of SARRA's contenders squad and he took charge of matches in the Craven Week and Under-19 Provincial Championship competitions. Rasta Rasivhenge
Fhatuwani 'Rasta' Rasivhenge (born in Johannesburg on 3 January 1986) is a South African rugby union referee who is a member of the South African Rugby Union (SARU) Premier Panel. He was appointed to referee the final of the rugby sevens tournament at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Career Rasivhenge has been a regular referee on the IRB Sevens World Series circuit since the 2011–12 season and also refereed in South African domestic rugby union competitions, the Currie Cup, Vodacom Cup and Varsity Cup since 2010. Rasivhenge was also a rugby sevens referee during the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. In 2014, Rasivhenge took a sabbatical from the South African Rugby Union and was recruited by the Australian Rugby Union; he subsequently appeared as an Australian referee in the IRB Sevens World Series. Matt O'Brien
Matt O'Brien (born 22 July 1981) is a New Zealand-born Australian professional rugby union referee. He has officiated on the IRB Sevens World Series circuit since 2011 and was appointed to the Super Rugby referees panel for 2014 and 2015. Family and early life O'Brien was born in Southland, New Zealand and is the son of former international rugby referee Paddy O'Brien. He studied pharmacy at the University of Otago where he played as a winger on the University's rugby team in the early 2000s, before he moved to the Gold Coast in Australia and established a pharmacy business. Refereeing After retiring from playing in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition for the Gold Coast Breakers, O'Brien took up rugby refereeing in 2008. Osea Kolinisau
Osea Kolinisau, OF (born 17 November 1985) is a Fijian rugby union player who plays for Old Glory DC of Major League Rugby (MLR). He captained the Fiji Sevens side to their first olympic gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Early life and education Kolinisau was born in Suva, Fiji. He attended Ratu Sukuna Memorial School, where he started playing rugby.
